So, I'm writing a fantasy story, and I really want a certain character to be in it, however, I'm struggling to find inspiration for their appearance and behavior. I can't write them if I can't even come up with what makes them a character. If you're interested, I can give you the details.

Thanks! So, in my story, the main character is the heir to the throne in her kingdom. To become queen, you have to duel the current ruler, as that's just how their culture works. An elderly woman challenged her mom, the current queen, to a duel. Although she technically loses, she kills her directly afterwards and reveals herself as demon. After consuming her soul, she becomes incredibly powerful and plans to destroy everything, starting by stealing the rest of the main character's family's souls. The demon spares the main character and instead uses her as a vessel for her adopted (daughter/son). She blacks out, but when she wakes up, the demon is controlling her and explains that they didn't want this and was running away.

I have no idea what their personality should be, and since demons are the souls of humans from the afterlife, there're endless possibilities for different dynamics between the main character and the demon. Speaking of the main character, here's her bio, if you want to look it over to get an idea of some dynamics they could have to make up for each other's weaknesses and such. Althea Draco

@childoftheuniverse No, I have her personality down. I just can't decide on what the demon's personality or appearance should be, not even their gender. I'm conflicted. On one hand, I'm just generally better at making female characters over male ones. On the other, the 3 main characters alongside them are all females. I wanted to keep my primary main character asexual, but I didn't want to have a lesbian fake out going. I became conflicted on whether they should be a boy or girl. Then my image of them got muddled, and I can't decide what they should be like. I'm thinking of making her personality basically the opposite of the primary main character's, but I'm not really sure.

hmmmm…well if they are in the main character for the entirety of the book then appearance wouldn't really matter I would assume…Make them gender-fluid maybe?? Also, I wouldn't make it completely opposite, make them have some things in common if you want them to get along.

Well, one of the first things I imagined was the scene where she realizes she first realizes what happened. She can see the demon in her mind when she's not controlling her body, sort of this internal world created when someone is possessed. She can't actually harm or even touch the demon, and neither can they. So although the main character is the only one who can see them, their description is still important.

@childoftheuniverse

ooohhhh i see…in that case it would be important now would it. Are they able to change forms? you could always make a scene where the main character chooses what they look like? because they can change it. whatever you want
