This one might be a little niche but I've been thinking about this a lot and I think it could be a lot of fun. For anyone who doesn't know Aita is a sub reddit where people write things that they have done that might be shitty but might not and then commenters weigh in and tell them if they suck or not. So what I was thinking is we do this in character. Write about something your character has done that is crappy or controversial and then we'll answer as our characters reacting to those stories!
It's a little complicated but I think it would be a great exercise for everyone involved! I'm still crafting my own post but I do intend to do my own as well as comment in character. I've also linked the sub reddit if anyone needs it to get an idea of what it usually looks like.

Discord: Soo my adopted siblings blamed me for the death of our sister (wasn't my fault OBVIOUSLY), so when we inherited our political power from our parents, they outcasted me and called me a villain. They then went on to push unfair, biased, and discriminatory laws, which is totally uncool. They 'get rid of' people who don't follow their 'rules' in suPER violent ways, and I'M the bad guy!? Please. Soo I kinda…..manipulated a fellow victim into doing mass genocide, and destroyed the government and world. And when said victim learned of my actions, he got mad?? What??? I'm not the one who outcasted an entire race because they were deemed 'dangerous!' I did the world a favor goddammit! Right?

AITA for not telling my friend his boyfriend was royalty?
I(17f) have been on the run from an ancient and sinister organization for around 3 months, trying to cross the border into a safer country. My traveling companions (19m, 20m and 21m) and I usually get a long very well after being in such close quarters for so long. However before we left and were truly on the run, my friend (21m) shared some surprising news about his origins. He's the nephew of the king. He swore me to secrecy and I kept my mouth shut. Tragically, that friend is no longer with us, but before he died he let this information slip to his boyfriend (19m). And that I knew the whole time. Now my other friend is very upset with me, saying I should have told him as soon as I knew, that this information was too important not to share with the rest of them. I see where he's coming from but I was told not to tell! I feel terrible for my friend who just lost his partner but I feel like he's being unfair to me. I don't think there's anything I could have done with out upsetting everyone. But honestly I don't know any more! What should I have done? Am I the asshole?

Myst: "NTA. The government system is corrupt because only corrupt people are given power. They won't listen to peaceful protests, so your last option obviously would be mass genocide."

Yuki: "YTA. All humans are racist but mass murder is not the answer. Most of the people you killed were probably innocent. Just kill your adopted siblings and move on."

Jean: laughing "nice"

Tyler: "NTA. Wish i could do this to God:/"

Exila: NTA. That's not your secret to just blab to anyone, no matter how close you are. You're a good friend for keeping the secret, and people are going to react angrily, but they'll get over it.

Harmony: NTA. Ancestors do not define you now. It's not that big of a deal

Yuki: YTA, you should have told them because that kind of thing probably would have been important to know about beforehand. In fact, it's probably your fault he's dead now.

Celia: NTA, ignore Yuki, he's just prejudiced. Obviously, you were all on the run so the nephew isn't exactly a fan of his origins either.

Alga: Everyone sucks here. I'm sorry you're being blamed for something that wasn't your fault. Especially the death of a sibling. But mass genocide tends to be where you lose people's support. Sounds to me like you ALL need to think about what you've done and how you can fix it.

AITA for not going back to my family after 8 years?
I(16f) and my girlfriend(15f) are pirates, and have been for years. I was born a Celestial Dragon(basically a human with a god complex because they live in a fancy place) and my parents, like everybody up there, kept lots of slaves. They were all freed when I was eight in a raid by a pirate group, and I decided to join them. Now, the government wants me to go back up there and live with my family again. I'm 100% against slavery, and refuse to go back up there. My girlfriend and her family agree that I'm not TA, but I'm starting to have second thoughts about this whole thing. I have no clue what to do about this!

Oakannah: NTA! Stay with your girlfriend, it sounds like you have a good support system with her and her family. Of course, if you want to to see your family without going back for good, there's probably a way to accomplish that. I will say, as a sort of fugitive myself, I'm a little concerned about the legal issues surrounding your piracy. I'm assuming it's illegal and you could be walking into a trap. But know that you're doing nothing wrong if you don't go back.

AITA for hitting my boyfriend's "friend" in the face?
I know that this sounds pretty bad, but I wouldn't normally do this kind of thing so I need you to hear me out. So basically, my boyfriend (24m) and I (24f) have this ability that allows us to kind of meet up with other people in one big, connected lucid dream. Because of this, we have a pretty wide circle of friends from all over the place. There's this one guy (25m) who my boyfriend is pretty close with, even though everyone else in our circle agrees is a little bit shady. No one except for my boyfriend really likes him because he's been known to be really manipulative.
Anyways, so just recently our group got involved in trying to help out a friend of a friend (16f). It's this whole thing, that I won't get into but basically I found out that both of her parents were killed recently and I wanted to reach out to her in a dream to make sure she was doing ok. As I show up I overhear my boyfriend's shady friend trying to talk this girl into trying to help him kill the king of a nearby kingdom. It really sounded like he just wanted to use her for personal gain, and that wasn't sitting well with me so I hit him. Because it was in a dream, he wouldn't have felt it much. I probably wouldn't have done it otherwise. He thinks he would be doing the world a favour by killing this king. He's probably not wrong about that, since this king is very corrupt. But personally, I feel like it's in pretty poor taste to ask someone who's not only still grieving, but also has no real experience with fighting/weapons. So, AITA for doing this?

Harli: You aren't a bad person for this, it's just that you could have talked through it, couldn't you?

Lincoln: NTA, Though if you can you should take out the king you speak of anyway.

AITA for not caring what happens to my 'dad'?
I(21f) and my half-brother(19m, we'll call him L) have never known our father. We've both only met him once, and we didn't even realize just who he was until months later. Now, our other brothers(A, 22m, passed away 2 years ago, and S, 24m) aren't related by blood, but I still love them dearly, and they're more family to us than our father ever will be. We're well aware that our father is the leader of the Revolutionary Army, and a very wanted man. Neither of us have any problem with this, the Army's a good cause and we're both wanted pirates(L is my captain), A had a big bounty on his head, and S is wanted too, more on that later. And as much as I get that he's a very busy man, he could have at least introduced himself to us that one time we met, right? Now, S is his second-in-command, and sees him as a fatherly figure, which I have no issue with. What I do have an issue with is people saying that since he's blood, I should care about what happens to him. I really couldn't care less, I'm more worried about what would happen to S and the rest of the Army if he died. I firmly believe that blood doesn't matter, and you choose your own family, and I've chosen S, A and R, a different, better father figure in my life. I really feel like I'm in the right here, but I'm starting to rethink things a little too much. So, AITA?

Jaq: AITA for overthrowing an seemingly immortal dictator? I mean… she is still a person, right? But then again, she hurt and killed so many people that the 9 seas became literally crimson-stained like red wine on a carpet…

oooo I've got one
Bee: My brother didn't know that we're only related by our mom and now he won't talk to me- I assumed he knew this, so I've never said anything's, but he didn't and when his dad left he found out and he thinks I never told him because I hated his dad. I mean, I did, he was abusive, but that's not why I never said anything. I thought it was obvious, I look nothing like his dad. AITA????

Crispin: NTA. If he can't be bothered to introduce himself to you then he probably doesn't care about you that much, so you shouldn't be expected to care about him. If anyone disagrees, then I guess I'm the asshole too.
Garzlan: Now that you know his identity is trying to talk to him not an option? Maybe he has regrets about not being a good father. Maybe he had a reason for not introducing himself. I don't think you're really in the wrong here, but I think you should try to have a more open mind, and maybe try to patch things up with him if you can.

Estella: NTA, as far as I can tell. If she killed countless people, then she deserved what she had coming to her. Trust me, people like that are barely even people in my book.

Gerard: NTA. I've been in a similar position as your brother, and as shocking as it was to hear that news I do appreciate the fact that my friends and family were honest with me, even if they weren't at first. Hopefully, your brother will come around and realize this too.
Ara: The fact that your brother reacted so strongly makes me wonder whether there's more to the story 🤔 I'm also curious to know how this somehow never came up? You're NTA, and I'll take your word for it, but I'd be interested in hearing your brothers perspective as well.

For Ara (or presumably starfast themselves)
Bee: we don't talk about our family a lot because it's already a touchy subject. Even if Terry was my bio dad we weren't close and he refused to take my illnesses seriously, unlike my brother or mom. He verbally abused all three of us and I stopped calling him dad when it started getting physical. I'm not sure how it never came up, but I'll be honest, part of me did wonder if he knew. My other brother (cousin, but basically a brother to us) says he never assumed he DIDN'T know so neither of us are sure.
PS from Rex lol: they end up talking it out, Forrest (the brother) was pretty messed up about his dad leaving and I think if it would hypothetically be that Bee had sat him down and told him instead of their mom telling him he would be fine with it-

ATIA for shoving the former king out of his throne?? I, (17m) was brought up by horrible parents only because I'm a demon/angle hybrid, and I only look a LITTLE bit different. One day when I was 15 I was sent to the kingdom of (blah blah) to work as a servant to the king since my parents 'Didn't want me anymore' (It's moms fault for cheating you idiots) After a while, when I was 16 I took the opportunity when the king was ill to SHOVE him out of his throne and steal his staff, which makes me king since whoever holds the staff becomes king! Everyone had to go along with it and the (former)king was dragged out kicking and screaming.

Arwood: Hmm…I find this quite amusing since I myself am revolting against my king, and my answer may not be the most reliable. On that note, let us get down to business. First, I see that your parents are not the world's best parents. However, with what information you have given, it is hard to provide you a definite answer. Now, it's not that you are a bad person per se, but the first question you must ask yourself is, did the King do anything that warranted to be shoved off the thrown? Also, you are 17-years-old, which to me seems a bit young to take up the crown…or in your case, the staff. While that may not have been the wisest choice, if you will rule better than the former, then maybe it was an accurate choice. That being said, no, I believe you are a good person. Also, I should probably mention, the act is already done, there is no changing it. Therefore, moving forward, you should do whatever is right for the people.

Daymond: THANK YOU for finally understanding at least some of what I did. And regarding the king, he was making decisions that barely benefited the kingdom so I only did what I thought was best. Yes, perhaps it wasn't a good idea for a 17 year old to take the throne, but if I waited any longer the guy would probably ruin the kingdom, and any other person I mightve asked was either as bad as the king or would be too afraid to do it

AMITA for going against my friend’s wishes and breaking my (sorta) promise?
First, I’m a 25-year-old male from the year 2023. Why am I mentioning this? Well, for some strange reason, I was catapulted to another dimension and into another century. I mean it, they don’t even have indoor plumbing!
Second, I promised my two friends, well, I didn’t exactly promise, but they think I did. Anyway, I said I wouldn’t show the people living in this strange world things from Earth. Naturally, being who I am, I went to a small unknown province and did just that. I showed them how to create dynamite, crossbows, small hand pistols, etc.
Yeah, maybe it was wrong, but I don’t see why they got so worked up about it. The enemy only got a small barrel of gunpowder, and you’d think I destroyed the world!
So…AMITA? Yes? No? Maybe?

Oakannah: NTA! Stay with your girlfriend, it sounds like you have a good support system with her and her family. Of course, if you want to to see your family without going back for good, there's probably a way to accomplish that. I will say, as a sort of fugitive myself, I'm a little concerned about the legal issues surrounding your piracy. I'm assuming it's illegal and you could be walking into a trap. But know that you're doing nothing wrong if you don't go back.

Estella: Thanks for your input! I decided that I'm not gonna go back, as I'm not exactly sure how my family will react if I just show up, as well as the fact that as a pirate, it's practically impossible to get to them. As for the piracy, yes, it's illegal, but I'm not really worried about capture. My girlfriend grew up on a pirate ship and is really strong and smart, and her dads are both super strong, famous pirates! We're currently staying on the island one of her dads lives on, and we're probably gonna stay for the next two years or so, as the island is practically impossible to reach and my girlfriend's dad is training a… how do I put it? The first mate of his husband's friend is the best way, I suppose. Their crew's gonna meet up again in two years, so my girlfriend and I have decided to drop him off at the meeting point then and then set off and just go rogue for a while!
