He stopped in his tracks, letting the tourists drift by him as he tilted his head.
"Runner. Why've you been watching me?"

Chita perked her ears up at the sound of people conversing, wondering towards the male voice to check it out. Trebatia let the husky do what she wanted. She'd come back soon, and if not, she only had to whistle for her to get her back.

"I'm bored. This town is a tourist trap. Once you visit once, there's nothing left to do but people watch." Sam shrugged. He seemed to think she was going to attack him. Her eyes wandered to the other tourists. There was one lady who had a cat on a leash instead of a dog. Unusual, but not as unusual as some.

He opened his mouth to say something snappy, but his brain quickly closed it again. Her story was legit, at least he thought.
"Is it necessary to be on a roof?"

@Pickles group

"No, but it's fun." She grinned. "If you climb up here, you'll get to see something hilarious in–" She looked down at her watch. "One minute and 20, 19, 18…" Looking back at him, she pointed to the side of the wall. There wasn't a ladder, but there were slight indents in the mortar from where Sam and Anthony had climbed up every year.

He pulled his feet away from the dog, momentarily distracted.
I do not need a demon-smelling dog right now. Please for the love of God, leave me alone.

"Chita! C'mere girl!" A girl then approached Runner, wearing her platinum blond hair in thick pigtails and letting some strands frame her petite–and, frequently-said, cute–face, a black head band resting atop her head. She wore a short crop top that was strapped firmly below her chest, and a high waisted, flowy black skirt that reached just above her knees, leaving a good sized chuck of her stomach showing. Her feet were stuffed in simple sandals. Her milky white eyes found Chita and she made a kissy noise. The husky perked her head up and trotted back over to her master. "Sorry about her," Trebatia said.

"It's fine," he said tensely, then turned back to the girl on the roof. "And what is gonna happen that's so funny?"

@Pickles group

Sam looked back at her wrist. "10, 9, 8…" When she reached one, she looked up and on zero, a manhole cover lifted and an arm stuck out, slipping something onto the ground. One by one, the people started to wrinkle their nose and quickly walk away. This seemed to be all, but Sam leaned forward in anticipation. The cover lifted once again and a ragtag band of a few teenagers crawled out, covered in grime. They were all wearing Halloween costumes, your typical ghosts and monsters. They shoved through the crowd, holding their noses and screaming, causing some chaos, but nothing massive or hilarious. "Good, the distraction worked," she said, satisfied.

"And….why has that just happened?" Runner had that creeping feeling it was something he should've know, but didn't.

@Pickles group

Sam looked at him, considering how much to tell him. "It's a… diversion tactic," she said carefully. "For something else that you don't need to know about." (Wow that sounds a lot more suspicious than it actually is…)

"Something that shouldn't be happening?" he asked, side-eyeing her.

@Pickles group

"Not that you're thinking. Of course, some people would argue that revenge against the mayor should never be something that happens." She tugged on her ponytail. Stop talking she urged herself. "Nothing serious. A few bugs, some silly string. No biggie."

@ElderGod-kirky group

"I could perhaps help," she said suddenly. Being a trained assassin was great for stealth missions. Playing a few pranks on higher-ups was a great way to enjoy her vacation.

He didn't seem overtly opposed to it. His girlfriend was in the mafia, so this wasn't that bad in comparison. And his dad just happened to be a demon lord. "Well, what did the guy do?"

@Pickles group

"You don't need to know that. It was nothing, really. Not my place to tell." Sam hid a smile. She thought she was doing a pretty good job convincing these people there was something going on. "Who are you? Cute dog," she said to Trebatia.
