I'm glad we saw a major character who is Deaf for sorta personal reasons (I'm not Deaf, but a friend of mine has a Deaf sister and we wrote a small play about a Deaf woman that won some pretty high praise at a competition) and I'm glad that Deaf kids will be able to read the book and go "hey, that's me!" because everyone should be able to.
