I've read the first few books, one of my ex-friends loved the books and when we stopped being friends I stopped reading them to spite her.

I read them up until the 9th book. They were fun to read at the time but now their humour is a bit immature for me now. Although I do still love all the creative dragons they showed throughout the series.

Really? I didn't get that feeling at all, I guess if you get older it might seem immature to you, but to me, they represent a much deeper kind of friendship and loyalty, something that is so meaningful and powerful that there has to be dumb humor for just a little break and comic relief! The last few books get quite dark actually. I guess if you didn't look that deep into them it may seem dumb, but the last three books were some of my favorites because of how everything comes together so perfectly, you should totally try them again!

@Joy Don't get me wrong, I loved reading the books when I was young. While a lot of the Jokes are a little immature with them being focused a lot on poop and snot jokes. The setting I remember was quite adult, with lots of murders, enslavement and cannibalism. It just that today my taste in books has changed a lot. And I prefer books with a lot more serious settings and stories. I might just take your advice though and check them out again. It has been a while so I might appreciate them a bit more now than I did before.

@Noam, okay cool. I know what you mean with the jokes though. I've rolled my eyes at a poop joke one too many times.
