Also our boy andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer) is a one man team iirc. He’s a cool dude, but one project can understandably take a good amount of time, so it seems a tad arrogant? to be asking him to develop a whole other dimension for the site that’s not even related to writing/worldbuilding.

@croccin-champagne

personally I think it would be a really cool feature, but not super probable rn. like maybe if andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer) ever put together a team to work on the site, or like way in the future once all the other kinks were hammered out. I totally would never use it tho bcs I'm so bad at narrowing down my characters into songs like that

Ahh i see, i see. Thanks for the advice. never considered linking

One small tidbit on music: now that I've gotten text and link fields into the template editors, I'd like to eventually add a bunch of other field types (like numbers for ages, checkboxes, multiple choice, image uploads, etc) and it might make sense to also have a "song" or "playlist" field that you could add to your templates if you want to include music. Probably wouldn't autoplay, but might be a nice middleground for the more musically inclined worldbuilders. :)

If you did include this, and it did autoplay, I think we would all appreciate if you would make it mandatory to include a warning if the song includes foul language or covers hard topics.

totally, that sounds great. and i didn't mean to sound like i was demanding earlier. i was just wondering if it was possible is all cx

@Becfromthedead group

Is it possible that you could put a "last online" status on users? Like "last online 2 hours ago"?
Idk if anyone else feels this way, but it's always good to know whether your rp partner just hasn't been online, or if they maybe accidentally marked the post read and need to be pinged again.
(Of course, with the option to turn it off, because I understand some people don't want people to see that)

@tungsten fastfood

I think being able to add people into already made dms would be awesome. Or having some way to save pms so a partner could invite me back into RPS we had in dms before I deleted my acc.

Itd also be neat if I could get DMs back onto this account but idk if that's possible

Lately im writing more and paid attention to some things, its a mix of small sugestions and fixs xD So normaly i write the content of a document first on a scene page and slowly take it to the document itself, here i noticed if i write to much, to refer with @ i was needing to take the page constantly down to get the options, if not the options appear in places not good or simple doesnt appear at all to select the right one, maybe it is a bug?
Other thing i noticed after request a doc analysis, it was a small doc but it that quite a while to recognize the entities listed in the doc and when finished, when i go to the edit, the pages appear but only the symbol of it is a char, a country… dont appear the name, unless is a entitie i add manually (maybe some issue because using the dark mode?

Have also a sugestion to the documents page, andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer) do you think would be possible to add more formating options, like the color and size in numbers for example, used a trick in a word document copy and paste and can have the formatting in the document page but needs to be constantly copy and paste and sometimes editing the text cause issues, like the text gets to big after erasing the format in the document toolbar, only way to reverse it is to write again for example

@Eldest-God-andrew health_and_safety flash_onAdmin

I think that makes sense. Originally I'd planned on merging text and link fields, so it made sense to have associations/references merged as well; but since you can now add custom link fields and they're staying separate from text fields, it seems like it'd make sense to differentiate the two different kinds of associations as well.

It shouldn't be a super-big change, but my laptop is getting repaired right now so updates are just a tad slower than usual. Thanks for your patience (and feedback) though!

(Also, your other feedback is good as well; the document editor and analysis is something that I have a few larger updates in the works for now, so I'll try to tackle some of the bigger issues soon. I definitely agree there's a lot to improve!)

As a suggestion, it would be nice if we could put characters in folders or groups so we don't have to see every character every time. OR being able to lock how we filter characters so its the way we need unless we change it. In addition, being able to sort character by LAST name would be really helpful. :)

I'm a new user - still working my way through the forums, so apologies if there was already mentioned somewhere I missed. I have a couple suggestions that would help me.

  1. When adding a page link in edit mode, have the link appear with the linked page name instead of the internal reference (e.g. "Church of Sparticus" instead of "Rel)." This page reference nomenclature doesn't mean anything to me where the linked page name would.
  2. Right now, down arrows don't move me down to the next line in a paragraph. Being able to move between lines quickly would be helpful.

Thanks!

This is a great idea. It's a little technically-hard to do properly, but is definitely an improvement. It's on the to-do list. :)

This is a bug and should hopefully be fixed soon!

Just an aesthetic preference, but I would like the create more icon, the +, or at least the surrounding circle, to be changed to Notebook blue.

Haha, seems like something I can sneak into a release pretty quick. ;)

Hi @andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer), been playing around in the timeline feature. This feature is super helpful for me - it helps me organize thoughts and events to see the state of the world event to event. I have some suggestions. Some of these are probably much more difficult to implement than others. No dealbreakers here - just a bunch of quality of life ideas.

  • On linking a page to a timeline event:
    • Right now, the site supports linking one page at a time. I usually have more than one page that's relevant to the event. Making it easy to link multiple pages at once would help.
    • After linking a page, update the timeline to show the linked pages. Right now, this requires a browser refresh to see the links.
    • Right now, the linked references on an event first shows the page type, which you then click to see the pages. I'd prefer to just see the pages with the relevant icon for the type of page. This might not be feasible from a space management perspective, so take this with a grain of salt.
    • There's a positioning issue in the linked pages where if a page name is long, the white boxes and the X to remove the link will misalign. The white boxes highlight only the part of the page name that fits on the first line. The X appears at the end of the second line (the unhighlighted part). I have a timeline with three links where the first and third spill over to a second line, but the second fits on one line. The X for the first and third appear at the end of the name (unhighlighted part), but the X for the second item appears one line down at the end of the first line for the third element. If the name is too long to fit in one line, I'd recommend truncating it to fit. I know this alignment can be tough since screen resolutions can vary wildly. Ideally, the app should detect the available resolution and position elements accordingly, but that can get really messy to get right.
    • Automatically scroll the timeline to the event that just got the links. Right now, the page scrolls to the top. This is a good general quality of life best practice - take the user back to where they were when returning from an edit flyout.
  • After creating an event, the Timeline Label field is hard to select. If you misclick, the Timeline Label field of the first event in the timeline is selected instead. I suspect the div that represents this field has a small default height style that makes it hard to select. The data entry field should have a consistent size and position so selecting it is intuitive.
  • Add an option to insert an event in the middle of the timeline. When the timeline gets large, positioning new events gets painful.
  • Option for a structured timeline nomenclature. I realize that not all stories bother with a structured timekeeping system and that when they do, the nature of that timekeeping system can get really convoluted, so this might not be realistic. That said, if this can be done, events could be positioned in the timeline automatically based on the Timeline Label value.
  • Option for a horizontal timeline view. For large and complex timelines, this'd help make it easier to see and understand. I'd love to see a timeline callout at each event with the Timeline Label, Event Name, and list of linked pages (ideally page icon and name) where clicking one of those links opens a new tab with that page.
  • Option for a vertical tabular view. Similar to the horizontal view (timeline label, name, and links) with an option to expand and edit the description and notes. Allow reordering events with drag/drop (if the structured timekeeping system isn't a thing).
  • On the Timeline section of the linked worldbuilding pages (e.g. characters, locations, etc), list the various events in sequence along with the timeline reference. That would make it easier at a glance to see the list of events associated with the page.

I'll keep playing with it and post more suggestions as they occur to me.

Thanks!

Hey Richard! Thanks a ton for that detailed feedback. I agree with it all and I've been using the timeline feature a lot lately for planning my nanowrimo novel, so I definitely see how a lot of these could improve the flow. I've had a lot of great feedback on the feature that I'm hoping to tackle soon (probably after adding folders to worldbuilding pages). :)

I really appreciate the feedback!
