Super-summarised Medeis religion

The creation story and the known era story:

In the beginning, there were two beings, Duns and Lins. They were brothers but they were also great rivals. Duns was the eldest and was the most creative of the two. He created life, light and matter. He did awe-inspiring things that only made his brother deeply jealous. Out of spite, Lins destroyed what Duns had made and tension grew between them. Finally, a battle broke out that lasted for thousands upon thousands of years. Lins and Duns were evenly matched but they were growing weary. Using the last of his powers, the younger brother, Lins, used the last of his powers to trap Duns in a giant ball of flames and heat. Exhausted, Lins created what would become the planet Nativma and the original gods as well as the Prophet, Moukib, using the knowledge he had gained from watching Duns. The gods were made to defend him should Duns awaken. Then Lins buried himself into the core of Nativma wear he fell into a deep slumber, waiting and slowly regaining his power.

The gods once walked among mortals, teaching them their knowledge and giving way for them to flourish. Technology skyrocketed until the mortals had power equal to that of the gods. War broke out and the three great deities, Diu, Solum and Iseo, as well as the Void-keeper Mortessorem, allowed the gods passage into the Void and froze the world. For many millennia, they recovered their strength and order until finally they recreated the world but for many, their bitterness lingered. All mortals who became too powerful, who knew too much, would plummet into corruption and war would break out over and over until the end of time.

Most common and significant gods that remain mostly the same throughout the continent:

Diu- Queen/matriarch of the gods and the goddess of the night also known as the guardian of Nativma. Her celestial body is the largest moon.

Solum- King of the gods and the god of day, known as the shadow of Duns. Tasked with watching the end-bringer and inevitably battling him. His celestial body is the second-largest moon.

Iseo- Prince of the gods and the god of time, also called the prince of time. His celestial body is the smallest moon.

Duns- God of the sun and bringer of the end times. He is prophesied to one day consume Nativma and its moons. His celestial body is the sun.

Mortessorem- God of death and keeper of the Void. He judges souls passing into the afterlife and guides them to their plane in the Void.

Vifira- Goddess of life. When the souls of the Void expire she shows them the way back to Medeis and chooses the new form they take which usually depends on how they acted in their past life.

Lins- God of all creation known as the forbidden god. Sheltered in the heart of Nativma and is the source of all magic.

Other somewhat important gods (aka the ones I've actually worked on) that do change throughout regions:

Synnas - God of the sky and storms. Believed to be the creator of angels and is, therefore, the patron god to most angels. In some places, he is also known as the god of justice, vengeance and freedom. He is also commonly a patron to travellers, rogues, and warriors.

Remala - Goddess of chaos and madness. She is known to despise pretty much everything including mortals and other gods. She curses mortals with madness and is an enabler for war and conflict. Therefore she is closely associated with magic and the only reason people pray to her is in hopes she might give them mercy.

Malada - God of knowledge. Malada is one of the many inherently evil gods in the Medein pantheon. Knowledge itself is seen as evil as its the main reason for corruption to take place. He is known to be extremely jealous of Moukib's knowledge and is constantly seeking to take it from him.

Fortid - God of the earth, harvest and agriculture. Thought to be the creator of lykins but in the rest of Medeis, he is mostly revered for other reasons as lykins aren't very common.

Spirits:

Spirits are the representations/manifestations of time that were created by the god Iseo to give order to the timeline. They aren't as powerful as gods, only as powerful as their time period allows. These are also the only periods that they can be seen on the mortal plane. They are the least feared celestial beings.

Auroro - Spirit of dawn

Crepula - Spirit of dusk

Novita - Spirit of spring

Aesalor - Spirit of summer

Qiu - Spirit of autumn

Eira - Spirit of winter

Nihil - Spirit of the eclipse

There is no spirit of day and night because of the fact that Diu and Solum are considered gods of these times and that there is no need for a spirit to exist. The same goes to elemental spirits as there are some gods who represent some sort of element and so there is no spirit for it. Mortals believe that Iseo didn't create the elemental spirits but they were created by the other gods instead.

Caloris - Spirit of fire

 - Spirit of ice

 - Spirit of inland water

 - Spirit of lightning

Demons:

Moukib - The prophet. Moukib is technically not a demon nor does he fit into any category. He acts on his own accord and is known to serve under Iseo frequently. Therefore some consider him as a disciple of Iseo but the truth is he is simply the being that is tasked to harbour the knowledge of the past, present and future. His knowledge surpasses even Iseo but, unlike Iseo, he has no control over time. Mortals fear him greatly though as his presence seems to signify times of great tragedy and when a mortal prophet appears the people tend to panic. This is the main reason why he is grouped with demons.

Noxid - The binder

Caldre - The whisperer

Tieus - The corrupter

More Moukib because he's important:

Moukib is one of the oldest deities known to the people of Medeis. He is the manifestation of Lins' knowledge after his hibernation and was created to safeguard it. While many other deities respect him as one of the Ancients, they crave the Prophet's knowledge for their own. It has led to conflicts in the Void that have spread into Nativma itself. A lot of great mortal wars were the result of quarrelling gods. Some gods even use the mortals in an attempt to trick Moukib but he knows all the tricks and none have fooled him so far. While he has this huge responsibility on his shoulders and he takes it seriously, this isn't what he wants. The weight of all knowledge has pressed down on him and he wants his duty to be finished. The prophecy he is best known for is the prophecy of the sun. The world will end when Duns, the sun, consumes Nativma and its moons. Moukib works to fulfil this prophecy, using mortals and gods alike to achieve it.

Moukib is the messenger of all that mortals could never comprehend. He has knowledge of all that is unknown. He has no interest in affairs other than his own and doesn't take sides. While he is usually wary of any other living being, those he distrusts the least (Iseo and the spirit, Eira) often have interests that align with his own. His only desire in his eternal life is to fulfil his duties until the prophecies he has circulating his head come to pass and he can finally be relieved. He's, for the most part, a mute as he doesn't trust spoken words. Instead, he communicates telepathically as the phoenixes did. Sometimes Moukib will assist Iseo, the god of time, as their interests align quite closely. The Prophet often finds himself wandering through the libraries of his mind, viewing the events of the past, future and present. He dreads some futures and can't seem to shake the cloak of despair that is wrapped around him.

In Moukib's mind rests an infinite universe. He harbours the understanding of Lins, creator of all, the beginning of reality and the end. He can be seen in many forms depending on his needs but is most commonly seen as a white fox or a blind man. It's usually easy to recognise him. Just look for blood-red eyes that mirror the darkest secrets of life.

More ramblings:

The gods vary in appearance. Spirits, the personifications and manifestations of periods of time said to be controlled by Iseo, are usually seen as strange, mystical humanoids. Most of the gods are also humanoid or appear similar to other races but there are a few that are also bestial, like Mortessorem. Some deities have several forms like the Prophet, Moukib, who is both a fox and a human man. Demons are most commonly seen as horrific beasts that cannot be found in Medeis normally.

All deities, except demons, reside in the Void. They each rule over their own personal realm. People who have wronged the gods in life are thought to be doomed to serve the gods in the Void for the rest of eternity while those who were faithful rest amongst the stars.

The gods actually act a lot like mortals and have relationships, family ties and personalities to accompany them.

The primary deities include the moon gods Diu, Solum and Iseo as well as the gods of life, death, the sun and the god of creation.

Diu rules over the gods as queen and is also the goddess of night. The king of the gods is Solum who is the god of day. Iseo is their son, the god of time and the eternal prince. Some stories suggest that he’s spiteful of his parents because they’ll never die which means he will never rule but some say he is the wisest of all the gods and has no interest in such power. Mortessorem is the god of death and the keeper of the Void. He judges the souls of mortals and guides them to the correct path. The sun god is Duns also known as the end bringer. He’s the enemy of the god of creation, Lins, who lies dormant within Nativma. It is prophesied that one day Duns will break free of his endless cycle across Nativma and consume the world and its moons. For this reason, Solum follows Duns’ journey across the sky and over the horizon. Twice a year, Solum will block Duns' light so he doesn't become powerful enough to escape. While the sun has a bad reputation among mortals some still worship Duns for the light and warmth he brings. Diu stands guard at night. Iseo follows no rules and can sometimes go months without appearing. The appearance of Iseo in certain places in the sky at certain times is said to have certain meanings.

Cosmology:

The world is a sphere. It exists in a larger sphere and within that sphere are the moons, the sun and the stars. Beyond the sphere is the Void and all of its realms. Within Nativma is the home of Lins who has lain dormant there for thousands of years. On Nativma’s sphere is the land, oceans and sky.

When mortals die, they must travel to the Void. This belief carries throughout most of the races with different adjustments to accommodate that race’s features. For example, the angels believe that they must fly up to the Void but the more they have fallen, the harder it is for them to reach the Void. Fallen angels cannot reach the Void and are doomed to remain between Nativma and the Void where they watch on for eternity

The in-between of the Void and Nativma is known as Estis or simply, the in-between.
