Overview
Musings is a collection of six short creations, ranging from thought-provoking essays to politically charged science fiction stories. Based on true events and serves as symbolism for my own first death, which prompted a second life as J.R. The story depicts a man named Joshua at his wits end after being tormented by Spirit, day and night, for nine months. Then in the reflective poem titled, "The Celestial Maiden," J.R. demonstrates the enduring importance of cherished things. In the structured rant, "Pen," a frustrated fountain pen displays its personality in this light-hearted piece. Next, "Hamlin" takes readers on an in-depth exploration of the blurred lines separating perception and reality, using a disheveled farmer and his environment to tell this convoluted tale about being born again. After that, a poignant letter to a long-lost love greets the audience with splendid singsong in "Une ode au nuage: traduit en anglaise (An Ode to Cloud: translated to English)." Finally, in this science fiction quick read set in 2027 Chicago, "It Takes a Day" follows Juneau Daisy "Rainbow" Deveraux. She is a political activist who gains notoriety after exposing a wicked organization known as The Leaders of the Radical Republic. Going town to town, Juneau is not content until her message is heard the world over, yet knows time is limited. They watch from the shadows and can strike any time.
