Likely tier: NU → OU

New Moves: Rising Voltage, Flip Turn, Dual Wingbeat, Electric Terrain, Thunderbolt, Thunder, Wild Charge, Charge, Charge Beam, Volt Switch, Air Slash, Hurricane, Psychic, Seed Bomb, Energy Ball

Dex entries: “It appears to have awakened its inner electrical energy. It soars over lakes and oceans, sending crackling bolts of lightning down onto its prey.” / “Scientists believe that this form may be close to that of its prehistoric, predatorial ancestors. Research on this theory is still underway.”

Why it’s used: Good coverage for both weaknesses in its Flying and Grass moves, a very defensive non-mega form that can tank hits before mega evolving along with having a different typing weak to different things, an unpredictable nature, good ability, good offensive typing, immune to Water-type moves in its base form, immune to paralysis, faster than Alolan Raichu on Electric Terrain

Flaws: Bad offenses, bad base form, bad defensive typing, weak to Stealth Rock before Mega evolving, requires Electric Terrain for good use, can be easily replaced with Raichu-Alola in exchange for a different Mega, no item slot since it has to run Mantinite, can’t run Heavy-Duty Boots to level its vulnerability to Stealth Rock, very weak to Electric-type moves in its base form

New moves: Steel Roller, Flip Turn, Scorching Sands, U-Turn, Head Smash, Flare Blitz, Wild Charge, Endure, Aura Sphere, Focus Blast, Circle Throw, Rapid Spin, Drill Run, Flame Wheel, Heat Crash, Heavy Slam, Extreme Speed, Rage, Rollout, Iron Head, Headbutt, Zen Headbutt, Double Edge

Dex entries: “A single strike from its trunk can topple an apartment building. To travel, it curls up and rolls along at supersonic speed.” / “Mega Evolution has plated its trunk in iron. Once it starts rolling, it can build up enough kinetic energy to blow through an entire mountain.”

Why it’s used: Outstanding offenses, epic defenses, great moveset, good typing, okay ability, high BST, good coverage, awesome slow pivoting moves to deal a lot of damage while switching out, great speed for Trick Room, WILL murder anything that tries to pivot out on it or switch in, immune to Electric-type and Poison-type moves, very good against Poison-types

Flaws: Slow speed outside of pivoting, slow outside of Trick Room, weak to Intimidate, weak to flinching, weak to burn, mediocre Special Defense, no recovery, self-destructive ability if used with a move it applies to, useless ability otherwise, takes up a Mega slot that could be used for something similar like Mega Mawile

Girafarig → Mega Girafarig

Item: Etirafarite

Ability: Omniscience (The user reads the opponent’s mind upon switch-in to alert itself of its held item, along with any dangerous moves.) (combining Forewarn and Anticipation)

Type: Psychic/Dark

SpD: 65 → 85 (+20)

Spe: 85 → 125 (+40)

BST: 455 → 555 (+100)

Likely tier: ZU → OU (it would be very good in Balanced Hackmons, however)

New moves: Expanding Force, Terrain Pulse, Poltergeist, Lash Out, Mind Reader, Double Hit, Double Slap, High Horsepower, Double Kick, High Horsepower, Aura Sphere, Focus Blast, Phantom Force, Shadow Sneak, Magic Coat, Dazzling Gleam, Dark Pulse, Beat Up, Sucker Punch, Cosmic Power, Calm Mind, Nasty Plot, Power Trip, Shadow Ball, Teleport

Dex entries: “The mind of the tail has switched places with the mind of the brain. Driven by pure instinct and fury, it ravishes opponents with unrelenting beams of darkness.” / “It attacks mindlessly and furiously. Its blackened body seems to be evidence that the main brain is no longer in control.”

Why it’s used: High speed and special attack, good moveset, good typing, great ability, overall pretty good stats (especially for a lead), ability to check many OU threats, great utility with its ability, can be used on Psyspam teams with Expanding Force, immune to Psychic-type moves

Flaws: must be paired with Indeedee or Tapu Lele in VGC (both of whom overlap in typing with Girafarig; the former of which is passive and the latter of which is frail), weak to U-turn and Bug moves, loses its Ghost immunity upon Mega-evolving (though it gains the Dark typing to beat them) along with a Grass immunity if it has Sap Sipper, highly vulnerable to Urshifu

Likely tier: ZU → UU

New moves: Expanding Force, Skitter Smack, Terrain Pulse, Lash Out, Dual Wingbeat, Weather Ball, Aurora Beam, Ice Beam, Dark Pulse, Bug Buzz, Pollen Puff, U-turn, Sticky Web, Defog, Will-o-Wisp, Toxic, Spore, Rage Powder, Magic Powder, Powder

Dex entries: “Hoenn mythology describes a brilliant creature with wings of rainbows that descended from the heavens to assist a brave hero in battle. In modern days, it’s been deduced that this Pokémon was simply the hero’s Mega Beautifly.” / “Its wings are so outstandingly beautiful, it’s said that the sheer sight of them cleanses the heart and soul.”

Why it’s used: Fast and strong, a great movepool, an awesome ability, all of the utility of Ribombee on a more offensive user at the cost of a Mega slot, great offensive typing, makes a good lead, can use cool gimmicks, quad-resists Grass-, Fighting-, and Bug-type moves, a very fast Spore user, good for Sticky Web, immune to Ground-type moves

Flaws: Horrible defensive typing, horrible defenses, 4x weak to Rock AND Ice types, can’t run Heavy-Duty Boots due to Mega stone, likely to go down in one hit to all super-effective and neutral moves, low BST, outsped by many things in UU and OU, dies to priority, outsped by Ribombee, no real chance to take advantage of its ability

Dex entries: “The toxins in its fangs have been amplified to radioactive levels. Just a single nip can corrode into a gaping hole within a few minutes.” / “Its fangs have grown to humongous size through the power of Mega Evolution. To compensate, its body and wings have become huge and strong as well.”

Why it’s used: Very defensive, can tank a lot of hits, good moveset, can Wish pass through STAB slow U-turn, is slow for Trick Room, gets Spore and Toxic to spread status, many different recovery and utility options, quad-resists Fighting, Grass, and Poison, faster than Toxapex, immune to Toxic, immune to Ground-type moves

Flaws: Bad defensive typing, slow outside of Trick Room (though this can be a plus for Wish passing), bad offenses, hard to switch in in its regular form to Mega evolve, can be replaced by Blissey in many scenarios in exchange for another Mega slot, less bulky than Toxapex, doesn’t absorb Toxic Spikes when Mega evolved, really just has to be the lead to get any Mega evolving chance at all

Dex entries: “Its arms are as strong and heavy as metal. One punch is enough to level a whole building.” / “Its rock-solid exterior can shrug off blows strong enough to thrust a Rhyperior ten feet into the sky.”

Why it’s used: Great offense and great defense, especially under Trick Room with Hammer Arm and Sucker Punch, awesome offensive typing, quad resists U-turn, quad-resists Bug- and Normal-type moves

Flaws: Bad defensive typing, mediocre stats outside of attack, bad speed outside and inside of Trick Room without Hammer Arm/Curse boosts, mediocre ability

New moves: Grassy Glide, Lash Out, Flip Turn, Skitter Smack, Giga Impact, Body Slam, Crunch, Octolock, Jaw Lock, Octazooka, Final Gambit, Close Combat, Taunt, Super Fang, Rapid Spin

Dex entries: “Fast as a torpedo, it punches clean holes into its foes. Underwater, it can reach blisteringly high speeds.” / “It uses the power gained from Mega Evolution to protect the wilderness. Those who it catches polluting rivers will suffer heavy punishment.”

Why it’s used: Strong and fast wallbreaker, fastest Pokémon under rain, still good outside of rain, has access to Taunt, good pivot with Flip Turn, good offensive typing, can absorb burns in its base form

Flaws: Shallow moveset, not many good moves to beat its weaknesses, bad defenses, bad defensive typing, murdered by priority, no item slot since it must run Floatzilite, outsped by Dragapult, easily crippled by Intimidate and screens + status when outside its base form, suffers from four moveslot syndrome

New moves: Misty Explosion, Burning Jealousy, Poltergeist, Corrosive Gas, Fire Blast, Overheat, Weather Ball, Shadow Sneak, Final Gambit, Body Slam, Close Combat, Focus Blast, Solar Beam, Signal Beam, Will-o-Wisp, Fire Punch, Ice Punch, Thunder Punch, Defog, Dazzling Gleam, Moonblast, Air Slash, Power Trip, Stored Power, Dark Pulse, Octolock, Teleport

Dex entries: "It sucks in air and people like a vacuum. Rumors hold it that whatever is brought into its spectral body ends up in the underworld as an offering to the dead." / “Its movements are unpredictable and dreamlike, as if Mega Drifblim is in a deep slumber. It’s said that the real Drifblim’s soul has been pushed aside by the power of Mega Evolution, and that this form’s body is piloted by ghosts.”

Why it’s used: Good offensive typing, awesome HP, awesome SpA with its ability activated, great speed tier, awesome moveset, can be used with Corrosive Gas to melt the items of everything around (since Mega stones cannot be removed), can take a hit and hit back, status absorber, can be run physical or special, can be very potent with mixed spreads, physical iteration cannot be safely burned, easy switch-in to attacks, immunity to Normal- and Fighting-type moves

Flaws: Bad defensive typing, weak to Intimidate on physical builds, must run Drifblimite (i.e. no Flame Orb, Toxic Orb, etc.), must be switched into status to have any offensive pressure, cannot use common offensive items like Life Orb and Weakness Policy to increase its normally mediocre offenses, cannot be affected by Toxic Spikes to activate Spectral Facade, cannot be affected by Misty Terrain to increase the power of Misty Explosion, weak to Stealth Rock, low bulk outside of HP, no recovery, four moveslot syndrome

Dex entries: “Its thick outer layer is impenetrable. Using its roots, it absorbs the impacts of moves and sends opponents flying in return.” / “A sweet aroma arises from the back of Mega Carnivine’s mouth. When foes come close to attack, their minds become hazy from the scent, and instead they get snapped up by Mega Carnivine’s looming jaws.”

Why it’s used: Awesome ability granting it an OUTSTANDING amount of immunities, unique immunity to Bug-type moves and U-Turn, great bulk, great offenses, good speed under Trick Room, access to recovery, complete check to Rillaboom, can be run special or physical, immune to Spore and Grass-type status moves

Flaws: Simple typing with several weaknesses, bad speed outside of Trick Room, lackluster movepool, horrible in its base form, hard to switch in without taking large amounts of damage, easy to predict when it’s going to switch in, weak to burn and Intimidate in physical iterations, weak to residual damage, can’t hold items like Heavy-Duty Boots or Leftovers since it must run Carnivinite, unaffected by Grassy Terrain (i.e. no priority Grassy Glide)

Dex entries: “It spews sticky thread at an alarming speed and ties up its opponents before they can even move. It shows mercy for small Pokémon, however.” / “Mega Leavanny’s bond with its trainer is said to be so strong, it crystallized through Mega Evolution into multicolored blades.”

Why it’s used: OUTSTANDING offenses, good speed tier, AWESOME ability, good offensive typing, good offensive movepool, great utility, high BST, nigh-unstoppable as a physical breaker, great physical sweeper under the sun with Torkoal support, works well as a late-game cleaner, can beat some of its checks by staying in its pre-Mega form and outspeeding them with Chlorophyll on sun teams, immune to Spore and other Grass-type status moves

Flaws: Horrible defensive typing, 3x weakness to Fire and Flying moves with its ability, paper-thin defenses, no item slot (as it must run Leavannite), can’t run Focus Sash, killed by priority, absolutely murdered by anything faster than it, requires dual screens or Sticky Web support to ensure a sweep (though it does get Sticky Web itself)

Dex entries: “It's so fast that if it tried hard enough, it could travel past the speed of light. This tires it out, however, so only the bravest of trainers instruct it to do so.” / “Its kicks are as fast as lightning and its hooves draw electric shockwaves on the ground. Anyone who messes with it or its trainer is in for a sure beating.”

Why it’s used: Blisteringly fast, only outsped by a handful of Pokémon, can be run physical or special, viable mixed attacker, immune to paralysis, good offensive typing, great offenses, awesome ability to make its offenses even better, passable movepool

New moves: Scale Shot, Burning Jealousy, Lash Out, Overheat, Weather Ball, Fire Blast, Breaking Swipe, Noble Roar, Howl, Thunder, Avalanche, Blizzard, Solar Beam, Fiery Wrath

Dex entries: “Enraged out of its mind, it bombards its foes with blasts of fire hot enough to melt a train into scrap. Not even its Trainer is safe from its fury.” / “Its heatproof scales have been scorched to a deep crimson with the intensity of its internal heat.”

Why it’s used: Great defenses, BRILLIANT offenses, passable speed under Trick Room, good moveset, awesome ability that only helps its already amazing Special Attack, good offensive typing, good defensive typing, good to pair with Torkoal in Doubles for Trick Room sweeping shenanigans, immune to burn, typing balances out its weaknesses to Water and Fairy

Flaws: Slow speed outside and inside Trick Room, can’t hold an item, not very versatile, can be replaced by Torkoal in Singles for a more supportive role, not many viable special Normal-type moves to use with Combustion, completely walled by Tapu Fini and Azumarill without Energy Ball or Solar Beam

Dex entries: “It is said that the material covering its shell is from the core of the moon, summoned by Mega Minior through another dimension.” / “The prismatic crystals layering its outside absorb and refract the energy from attacks which would usually hit Minior super effectively.”

Why it’s used: Brilliant bulk, decent offenses, great speed under Trick Room, can be run physical or special, can be run with mixed sets, great moveset, awesome offensive typing, good boosting moves, awesome ability to empower its already outstanding bulk, can Wish pass with low speed and Teleport, can Mega Evolve right away unlike its other form, can take advantage of its high bulk to use Shell Smash or another boosting move, in its base form it’s unknown whether it’s X, Y, or not a mega at all, immune to Ground-type moves

Flaws: Horrible defensive typing, low speed outside of Trick Room (though this can be good for Wish passing), lackluster offenses outside of boosts, shut down by Taunt, somewhat outclassed by other Wish passers, no item slot, no recovery outside of Wish, unaffected by Misty and Psychic terrain for Expanding Force and Misty Explosion, the Shell Smash boosts make it awkward both outside and inside Trick Room due to its low speed

Dex entries: “As its shell has been broken, to protect itself, it surrounds itself with what is said to be the energy of the cosmos.” / “The mist swirling around it is said to be tendrils of existence from the universe itself. It looks into other dimensions to determine its opponent’s next move.”

Why it’s used: Amazing offenses, awesome speed tier, can be run physical or special, can be run with mixed sets, great moveset, decent offensive typing, good boosting moves, can often outspeed opponents and OHKO them easily, awesome ability to empower its already outstanding offenses, in its base form it’s unknown whether it’s X, Y, or not a mega at all, some players may not know it exists because it can only be activated at half health

Flaws: Difficult to put into use since it can only be activated at less than ½ health, will usually just be dead weight on a team unless this can be done (mostly with Endure), no item slot (has to run Miniorite), horrible defensive typing (though this can be good since it wants to be below half health), no opportunity to set up with its plethora of set-up moves after Enduring, can be completely bypassed as dead weight if the opponent just sets up instead, loses its immunity to Ground-type moves upon Mega evolving
