Whether it be of mythology or a stretched weaving of facts, the origins of Voidspawn to outsiders has always been a mystery. Although some other extraterrestrial races have their own ideals and speculations, one truth that stands out the most is that they neither evolved nor were they borne of natural form. Most origins of life begin through the proteins and bacteria of the most rawest forms of genetics being established within bubbling pits on random planets or moons. Yet like Frankenstein's Monster or the legendary Chimera, Voidspawn were made from the torn and now long extinct pieces of proto ancient beings that have been dead for millions and millions of years.
Some religions say they're demons from the stars. Others believe that they are true horrors that should be exterminated. Collectively, it's a unanimous and common instinct that other life forms simply find the Voidspawn a deadly and apex predatory species.
For the Voidspawn, they view themselves as prideful and mighty beings. Those that were once enslaved and broke their chains to not only destroy their masters, but also consume them in a gluttonous rage. With this consumption, they gained secrets of the vastness of space and how to thrive where others can not. As for their origin tale, whether many think its truth or not does little to stop their beliefs. For they have elders that were present, that witnessed such things, and know that their lore is true.
Chapter 1
The First
Long ago, well before our Sun was even a star, there was a great void so dense and so dark that no light could pierce it. The Void Mother herself embodied and contained the vastness of unyielding dark within herself as she stretched and yearned for more to claim. Like a great pit, she forever feasted to consume young planets and stars to feed the primordial things within her. Malformed and unsightly forces that breached laws of nature and couldn't be defined by physics. Giants of writhing pustules and filth constantly breeding, fighting, and consuming one another while shifting between realms of the darkness itself. Upon one rare occasions, some of these things managed to reach the edge of the pit and crawled their way out to escape and seek to feast on whatever they could find. They knew no love. No joy. No peace. For they were neither good or evil, but simply mad and hungry, desperate to sate their never ending drive to destroy and make more of their own.
On such occasions, yet again a few of these horrors crawled out of the pit screaming and howling as they ripped and tore at one another or themselves to break free. Upon their freedom they looked up to see light for the first time. Stars large and small, colorful pinpricks within the deep vastness of the dark. Be it the eyes of their Mother who looked back upon them and spoke not a word as they crowed and howled with manic presence. And from her eyes--from stars--they gained consciousness. Understanding of self, awareness of souls and thoughts. Emotion. They felt joy and confusion for the first time ever, but oh! They felt something else. Cold and empty. A primal sensation of being so vastly insignificant compared to the great openness of stars, moons and planets that were before them. They felt fear like no other and this fear drove the First Entities to flee from their Mother's unblinking gaze.
It is unrecorded where The First exactly fled to, but what is known is that they encountered lifeforms that were wholly new and unfamiliar to them. At first, they saw these lesser beings as insignificant; minuscule and petty that bickered with one another and scrambled about. Yet the more and more they observed these lesser life forms, the more attached they became and it wasn't long before The First began to make themselves known. What started as fleeting acts of communication--a mere tap upon the water's surface--suddenly became a ripple. Then a wave. Their curiosity for these beings flourished into a full blown obsession.
The First began to grow greedy. Controlling and fixated that these lesser lifeforms were now their playthings, forcing them to do heinous acts against the laws of nature. Sating their sadism by torturing, manipulating, and outright obliterating for mere laughs. In due time, the lesser beings finally stood on hind legs, looked up to The First and screamed ENOUGH. And when they looked upon these insignificant things fighting back, they saw the Void Mother's gaze looking back at them.
So they fled once more.
And those that were oppressed began to hunt them down.
Chapter 2
Plotting
The First found themselves in a state they have never endured before. Fore they were of the Pit itself and knew that fighting was the norm, but never had they experienced the audacity of those they viewed as insignificant trying to slay them. One by one they fell within the onslaught of battle and with each fall of one of their own, The First became all the more angry. So furious that wrath seeped deep into their newfound consciousness that they sought nothing more than to slay those that had defied them.
Upon their rage, the remaining First came about the idea to build a weapon of their own to protect themselves. for unlike beings of nature, they could never comprehend the nurturing aspects that are needed to create a bonded life. So their creations were hollow--soulless--things that had no emotion. Flesh golems that were cold to the touch and followed their master's orders with no hesitation. No names atronachs that were designed for the single purpose to destroy and consume those that opposed their masters. Yet there was a flaw of these created beings; each time one was destroyed, another would be created from the leftovers of the lost as well as pieces taken from the First to invigorate and maintain dominance of their creations.
It came to pass that the onslaught from their enemies was endless, and with each flow of obscurity, The First began to weaken with each recreation. They came to understand that they were gradually wasting away. Although they could not die as mortal things attached to the laws of nature could, they were knowing that they could become nothing. Lesser. Insignificant. With their power diminishing, The First agreed that they needed help and knew not who to turn to, yet it was one of their own who looked upon the heavens and stars. Dared to look deep into the gaze of the Void Mother for answers.
Chapter 3
Ouana
Mother of Voidspawn
Nobody knows the name of which First formulated the blueprints to create a Mother for their objectives, but many remember that the arduous process of creating a Womb went against the laws of nature. The First breached all of natural order; ripping essence from ancient forces, stealing the lifeblood of their own, and performing sacrilege that the Void Mother herself looked away.
Stars fell from the heavens, suns collapsed, planets imploded upon the creation of their newborn who was designed for a single purpose; to create life in their name. Speechless and able to look upon the faces of her creators, she was given no name and bound by The First to do their bidding. She consumed whole stars in their name and in turn they impregnated her with the dead seed of other life forms. From her womb came offspring; hellish things, monstrous and unsightly, dead-like creatures half crafted as if rotted in fetal form.
In turn, the First stole her newborns, crafted and forced them to undergo conditions to hone their monstrous forms into weapons. It wasn't long before flesh crafted abominations were set out upon the galaxy to slaughter in the name of their creators. From planet to planet, the bombarded those that fought against the First; destroying entire cities, laying waste to lands far and wide, opening the gateways to allow their gods to claim what was rightfully theirs. Yet the Masters were just as equally cruel to their creations, gladly reveling in their suffering as well.
Upon the galactic scale destruction, their Womb wept with such great sorrow that she begged the Void Mother for mercy. The divine goddess looked upon the Womb and felt great pity for her suffering.
What will you give me in return?
Take that of sight, for I wish to not witness these horrors that my children have endured.
So be it.
And by divine intervention, the Void Mother blinded the womb by ripping her eyes from their sockets. With them, she crafted the Womb a soul and in turn the Womb was named Ouaneane; The Blind Queen of the Stars.
Chapter 4
Rhemstat
Warrior King
Upon their return from bloodshed and claiming yet another planet, the First were unaware of their Womb being blessed with enlightenment for she kept herself mute with secrecy as she bore them another ten thousand spawn to have their army grow once more. Yet the First noticed that their newly obtained brood was...degraded. Lesser than their siblings and faulted to a point where they were so dim that they were more feral than soldiers.
Observations were done and there was a pointed conclusion that the spawn were a degraded form given that their bloodlines had been corrupted due to the mixture of the First's genetics forcing their mutations to go upon extreme levels. The conclusion was that the First were unable to self propagate by using The Womb as a source. What they needed was an access--a tool-- to function where they could not. So in turn, they created a separate entity known as The Conduit to act as a "mate" to further propagate their spawn.
In the beginning, the two struggled with one another; a conflict of purpose and control, for The Conduit was so volatile that he almost killed The Womb in confrontation for dominance. It became known to The First that their newly created entity was powerful in a way that even it could bring them to their knees. Crafted from their greatest known fighters, the blood from war pumping through veins and body made to be a weapon itself, The Conduit was an apex creation that they truly feared, so in turn; they made a third entity as a precaution if ever their beast of war were to ever turn upon them, a means to control the force even further, they crafted The Watcher, for it was unblinking and swift where The Conduit was slow and mighty.
Yet while the First were busy with their third creation, their eyes were averted and The Womb; Ouana, spoke to her newly betrothed in soft whispers. She beckoned them close and offered comforts that they had never felt before since they had been created. She healed their wounds, kissed their brow, embraced their might to quell the fires of unbridled rage that had been intentionally stoked to make them feral that they became tame enough to speak back.
Ouana whispered her name upon ears and with it she spoke the enlightenment to this horrid entity who began to fall so deeply in love with her voice. Every sunset, they would come together to embrace one another.
I wish to have a name as well.
What would you be called?
I would have you name me. As it should be.
And so it shall be!
Upon the days that were the hottest, Ouana named The Conduit Rhemsatiot; Warrior King and Father. And in turn, Rhemstat sang so loudly in war for his love to Ouana that the very stars from the heavens fell upon his enemies.
Chapter 5
The Watcher
Minzkhuin
Time passed and with each turn the First took the offspring of Ouana and Rhemstat as their soldiers and slaves; forced them to commit unspeakable acts for their glorified entertainments, made them slaughter, kill, and destroy only to turn and mutilate them for their own twisted gratification. And with each child killed, the ire for their masters grew with each blow.
Upon the eb and flow of control, it was Rhemstat who rebelled first. Bellowed and croaked so loudly that the skies cracked and the ground shattered with each step. He took ten thousand of his sons and daughters to wage war upon the First in hopes to gain freedom. Ouana managed to break away from her shackles of enslavement, rallied ten thousand more of her sons and daughters to flee, yet of those ten thousand brood that were ordered to escape, non survived. For The Watcher had given warning to their masters of the plot of mutiny.
And with loyalty, the Masters graced The Watcher with flight, so that they may observe at lofty heights and rain down from above. The Watcher, stringently devoted to their Masters, fought valiantly that even they almost killed Rhemstat with their bare hands. Yet Ouana turned, and upon her own wrath she crafted a spear made of her anger and the bones of her twenty thousand dead offspring to strike down The Watcher.
As The Watcher fell, they were grabbed by Rhemstat who bit at their neck so violently that it was torn from their bodies which forced them to have shoulders hold their heads in place. Yet when Rhemstat was upon the brink of slaughtering The Watcher, he was halted by Ouana to cease his throttling, fore she saw something in The Watcher that drew her attention in a way that made the winged thing give pause of their own onslaught. It looked upon Ouana in shaken awe, confused by her mercy as she stood between her lover and itself to stop their fighting.
It was then that The Watcher fell in love with Ouana who had shown them mercy and the grace of her healing touch to mend wounds like water upon dirt. Rhemstat was wary, mistrusting The Watcher, but complicit to his Queen with his love unyielding.
You need a name.
A name?
A soul. A name.
Do we not have those already? Do we not have names?
Not for ourselves. Names have power and we have neither. I wish to give you a name.
Then so be it.
And so shall it be!
With The Watcher's questioning, Ouana found them unique. Both different and the same as she and Rhemstat, but equal as they were all made and enslaved. So she named him Minzkhuin; The Queen's Eyes and Cunning Knight. For he could see where neither she or her King could not.
Chapter 6
The Triad Rise!
Nigh but six centuries did The Triad come together in secrecy while The First fed upon planet after planet in their never ending ravenous want for control and power. Their hunger was all consuming and even upon their servitude, they too could see it was only a matter of time before The First turned their eyes back upon their direction. So they worked and loved one another when eyes were closed. Minzkhuin and Rhemstat placed themselves upon either side of their lover, gravitating themselves around her presence as she minded over them with care. They prayed and made sacrifices in her name, imbibing both body and soul with more power.
In turn, she bore them children ten thousand sons and daughters to each father that bore their likeness. Ten thousand more offspring that grew to phenomenal sizes that were so stringently devoted. It was their love for their young that motivated The Triad to finally seek freedom in hopes that their children may one day never have to live shackled to chains. It was a unanimous agreement that they needed to finally fight their way out of the inner sanctum of their cages and actively seek out The First to confront them.
Rhemstat was to lead the first wave; like tanks they barraged and bullied themselves through any and all defenses. Trampling and crushing any and all servitors in their wake with Minzkhuin and his brood striking from above with strict accuracy. Ouana ensured that every single one of their offspring was not left behind, holding those that were the youngest against her bosom and beneath the folds of her gowns to protect them from impacts and debris. For it was Rhemstat and the mightiest of their kin that tore at the domicile of The First. Breaking away at walls, chambers, and confines while scream-chanting the hymns of Victorious Battle that wrought madness upon those that heard their croaking bellows.
It was of Minzkhuin who's spawn let free his own shrill screeches. Eyes wide and face contorted as he taught his children the ways of the Hunt. Making them spread their great wings so wide that they clouded the sunlight to cast the lands into absolute midnight that even the Void Mother's sight within the stars was blinded from the merciless onslaught of slaves turning against masters. Yet as victory seemed promising and freedom upon the horizon, The First looked back upon their slaves and witnessing a rebellion, their howls of rage could be heard tenfold throughout the galaxy.
Chapter 7
Betrayal
It was a war seen like no other; those that were crafted from the flesh of dead and dying ancients forced to fight their creators for the very freedom that all a living creature had right to. Suns collapsed, moons fell, planets crumbled in the wake of a never ending onslaught of such greatness that even the gods themselves looked with dismay upon the bloodshed to be had.
Upon the great battlefield between two giant stars, war was waged and Rhemstatiot spearheaded the way through the nonstop onslaught of their enemies. With mighty weapon in hand, each strike upon the surface caused such mighty earthquakes that mountains rose upon planets and oceans boiled as the core rose from within to heat the worlds asunder in great gasping bellows of steam. Ten thousand fold fell from his mighty blows as his children tore into the defenses. Two of the First perished in his wake, he and his kin consumed them with such ravenous fervor that they became mighty by their own right to penetrate the God-like barriers that blocked their way.
Yet it was Minzkhuin who flew and struck like lightning in tandem to Rhemstat's thunderous croaks. In which he tore open the skies to rain terror from above. His screams and howls bellowed so shrill that the skulls of enemies ruptured like berries pinched between fingers.
Yet during the onslaught of battle, Minzkhuin was captured by the First. Ouana had tried to stop him, but his zeal for conquest had come with the price that the First blinded him with a flashing light that rendered Minzkhuin numb. They flung their nets at his falling body, tearing his wings and dragging the body within their fold. It is unknown what was said or done to Minzkhuin with his recapture from the First, but what's told is that when Rhemstat went to retrieve his Queen's consort that he drew his blades at the sight of him.
It was said that he and Rhemstat fought with such ferocity that the skies tore themselves open and worlds collapsed in their wake at their fury for one another. Yet the battle came with Minzkhuin slaughtering Rhemstat so violently that his face was ripped free to expose bone beneath and Rhemstat retaliated back by ripping Minzkhun's upper rib bones out, but failed and forced Minzkhuin to make arms of the exposed bone. In the end, Rhemstat and Minzkhuin fell and with them their warrior children with only a single small contingent remaining with orders to return to their Mother with such news.
Chapter 8
Ouana's Sorrow
Foretold time and time again, Ouana's Sorrow came with the rains that began to flood the lands for months on end as she and her remaining children hid from the First. For ninety days, Ouana wept for her lovers and children lost on battle. In turn they had killed all but four of the First, the others consumed by Ouana who felt ascension to true godhood at hand.
In her weeping, she heard the keens and outcry of her children as in turn they tore their faces in their Father's name, rebuking Minzkhuin and his flock as Liars and Sneaks. Terror things to be loathed and hated for their deception. To be called the Betrayed henceforth to brand them with their pain and wrath that would be upon them thrice fold.
And in turn, Ouana struck down Rhemstat's killer with her bow and arrows made of moon and suns, cursed Minzkhun's soul she had blessed him; binding it within the darkness to be beneath instead of by her side where no light dare penetrate the caverns and shadows of the abyss that he and his dead brood reside within.
In turn, when all was still, she returned to the battlefield only to reclaim her perished lover. And in her ascension, Ouana claimed the bones of Rhemstat by stowing them against her breasts where she fled back into hiding with their children. By divine matrix, she used the secrets of the First that were inherited from the Great Feast to craft things for her children.
From his horns came weapons and shields.
From his ribs she wrought pillars of buildings and homes.
And his skull a great and mighty ship to hold them all, a metropolis; the floating city of Qiuarhorm!
With this divinely crafted praxis, Ouana instructed her children to set aboard and to leave their homelands. For no longer would they be enslaved, forced to live in caves or to toil away serving masters. There were no longer any masters that could contain or control them!
They were free! Boundless! Free to claim and conquer, to make something of themselves! Upon her nature, their matron began to tear her soul into pieces, each of her children being blessed with a soul fragment so that they would have clarity and feeling where other flesh crafted beings do not. And under her orders, they prayed to the Void Mother fo guidance who shined a constellation upon the dark skies that only they could see to guide them on their journey to a new home where they would thrive.
Chapter 9
Mother's Wrath & Mercy
It was seen upon the sunset of their leaving did the children of Ouana turn their eyes to the heavens where they saw the Void Mother's star to guide them to their new home. Yet their confusion and sorrow caused the children to stall with hesitance. The looked over their backs, to turn and lay witness to their Queen facing the First on her own.
With what remained of both the fragmented shards of wrath from her lover's souls, she crafted a spear of their unified hatred and struck the ground. With combines forces of their three souls, and with raw willpower alone, Ouana made the entirety of the planet go against it's own pace to pry itself from course. It was upon that fateful sunset, they saw their All Mother fling the planet and moons combined upon the First, causing a galactic eruption that had never been witnessed before since the beginning.
In the end, the remaining forces of the First were obliterated through Ouana's wrath. Their very own creation turned divine that landed the final blow. And upon the chaos of true horrors that should not be spoken upon, it was Ouana's love that was the true driving force.
For it was the Void Mother's mercy who gave Ouana clarity.
Blinding her so that she may see the unseen.
For it was Ouana's love to Rhemstatiot that he was mighty and slayed millions in his wake for his Wife.
For it was Minzkhuin who loved Ouana so deeply that it drove him to madness.
For it was a Mother's Love to protect her children that Ouana performed an ultimate act of sacrifice to ensure that all Voidspawn live to this day.
Praise be to the Void Mother!
Praise be to the Divine Trivium!
Oua! Rhe! Min!
