When I mean "hard" i'm mean like magic, dragons, faries, elves, mermaids, and other made up creatures.
And by "light" I mean like maybe dragons exist but elves and fairies don't exist. Or the world is set in a modern setting with technology but still has magic.

I like both, it just depends on the worldbuilding and depth of it. Fantasy in a modern setting? heck yeah, but if it's just a romance with vampires and werewolves thrown in for the angst with not any real lore (I refuse to accept that glitter counts for vampire lore). I've seen hard fantasy get butchered because people just mimic Tolkien or D&D and expect that shoehorning in lots of cool stuff makes it worldbuilding. The cool thing about fantasy is the vast difference in the worlds, races, cultures, etc. It can be done right and not so well in both types of "hard" and "light" and everything in between. So, depending on the execution I very much like both.
