Notice; WW2 knowledge is appreciated for this RP. You don’t have to know everything, but it is a RP set in that sort of time period. It won’t be completely historically accurate, since it does have monsters..sort of. Clarifications below.

1943, somewhere in the North Atlantic Ocean

As far as the world is concerned, this island does not exist. It has never been recorded, never been observed. Never been explored. No one even knows the name of the place, simply because it is not on the maps. Kept hidden, by a spell.

But spells- magic doesn’t exist. Magic is a thing of tales, of stories and legends. It’s not real, is it?

Until someone breaks through the barrier.

It’s not on purpose anything, oh no. Here they come, in a smoking plane. You know, it was probably a surprise for them, to expect water below you - then all of the sudden, there’s a bright light as you come closer to the water. And falling, falling, falling - the light clears, and there’s an entire island ahead of you, one you don’t recall ever seeing while flying. And falling, falling - you’re still falling, all you can hope is to make a safe descent to the ground.

And you crash. It’s not easy, it’s hard, and rough. Crashing isn’t ever easy, isn’t it? You wouldn’t know, it doesn’t happen often. Ever, actually. It doesn’t happen to you ever.
And when you’re recovering your belongings, you realize that you are not alone. Oh no, you are definitely not alone, you realize, as a shadow overtakes your very person, towering above you.

Romance, maybe?

New RP, set in a historical time period. Do not be afraid to get anything wrong historically - this will be fictional, there will be fictional characters and people who do not exist in the real world. If we get far enough, don’t expect the story to align with everything.
A RP in which a lost pilot meets something that they thought was only real in legends. A dragon…impossible..?

Clarifications

  • I would prefer this to be MxF, and I would prefer to play as the woman, though I can make exceptions.
  • I will be playing the dragon-shifter, while you, whoever ends up joining, will be the human pilot.
  • Country of origin, I put there since some people have WW2 knowledge focused in certain countries. If you feel comfortable playing a person from a country you have more knowledge on, go ahead. If you want to try something new, that works too.
  • The setting is mainly Europe and the North Atlantic Ocean, as well as a fictional island in the ocean.
  • Dragons, as far as anyone’s concerned, are creatures of legends. There have been rumours, but the general population wouldn’t know much.
  • Magic can be harnessed by humans, but only through special means. TBD in RP.

Rules

  1. Mature RPers preferred. I cannot confirm whether or not there may be sexual things; if there is we’ll probably skip it either way but it will be implied.
  2. Violence and blood, both are welcome. But there is a time and place for that.
  3. Swearing is allowed.
  4. No one liners.
  5. Good grammar is appreciated.
  6. I will be asking for a writing sample, unless we’ve RP’d before.
  7. Ask questions as needed.
  8. This list may or may not be added to.

And for the template…

Name:
Age: (19-25)
Gender: (I would prefer to be the woman, if possible - but if you really want to be her please let me know in advance.)
Sexuality:
Country of Origin: (Wherever they come from. Refer to the clarifications if needed.)
Languages Spoken: (They don’t have to speak English - my character will know quite a few; presumably whatever your character speaks. RP-wise, don’t worry about typing in whatever language your character speaks; we’ll just assume that’s what they’re speaking in. You can still have them know English though.)

Appearance:
General style of clothing:
Personality:

Background: (can be brief.)
Family: (who’s alive in their family, any details, etc.)
Other: (anything else)

Assumably, the RP will begin either during the crash-land onto the island, or after the pilot is recovering themselves. Either way, it will lead up to the dragon encounter.

@gracehustle

(Definitely! This is part of a rp I currently have going :) My responses normally very from this length to about a paragraph)
Venali hated being a member of Fae royalty most of the time. Hated was an understatement. He loathed being royalty. Especially when he was called to the judgment room by his uncle to watch more humans have their fate decided. His place on the left side of the throne gave him a front-row view, his cousin, Aine, took the right side, looking perfectly regal and emotionless. She was a spitting image of her father, though thankfully didn't receiver her father's unforgiving personality.

He would bet anything that he knew the outcome of this trial before it even began. There was no variation in the sentencing of these boring things, death, the tournament, auctioning off of the young children, a combination of three occasionally.

Nothing seemed different about this 'trial' than any other. Two humans, both extremely thin and dirty, just like every other time. His Uncle Eldon's face showed he figured the same as he strode into the room with a billowing black cloak decorated with golden embroidered designs, the dramatic entrance enough to rival any that Venali had. Normally his cousin ran the trials, but today was different apparently.

The High Fae King himself came to oversee this trial.

"State your names." The king commanded, sitting down on the solid stone throne situated several feet in front of the humans. It was quite a sight, the king's black outfit matching the throne whereas his vibrant golden skin and hair stood out against the throne but matched the two flanking the sides of him.

Name: Max Dimont
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Bisexual
Country of Origin: France
Languages Spoken: French and the very basics of British English

Appearance: Max Is an average looking guy. He has dark brown hair that he keeps slightly longer but always neatly combed, ice blue eyes and pale skin. He stands at about 5'8" but has plenty of lean muscle to make him seem like someone not to mess with. The only extremely visible scar he has is one on his right hip from when he was younger, but there are many more small scars from his childhood over his body.
General style of clothing: Besides the usual pilots uniform, he tends to wear crisp blue or black pants and a lighter colored button down shirt. Nothing terribly fancy.
Personality: He's a curious and adventurous person, loves to travel and meet new people. He's also very protective and courageous, but that does come with the addition that he can be overly serious at times if someone is in danger. Not one to loose his cool easily. More to be found in the rp

Background: Grew up in a small quiet french town with his family and was adventurous from a young age. Loved to go with whenever their family went to the city, and enlisted in the air force as soon as he heard about it and was old enough too, mostly so he could travel more. Always had loved the air and had a natural talent at flying.
Family: Sister: Alexia Chabert (Alive, married) Father: Grégory Dimont (Deceased) Mother: Irène Dimont (Alive) Twin brothers: Albert and Adrian Dimont (Both alive)
Other: Hmmmmm nope

@Mojack group

Name: Vasuki Es Sagolj.
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Sexuality: As described by herself, she really has no preference, but she’s also never ‘been with anyone’ either, so Vasuki doesn’t really know herself to tell the truth. Questioning pansexual.
Country of Origin: N/A, to the dragons the island they live on is called Camiguin. To humans, it’s nothing, since they don’t know.
Languages Spoken: Quite a few, some ancient and modern. Language learning is considered a vital skill for most dragons; be it written or spoken. Vasuki is better at writing some languages than speaking others, but her speaking capabilities would probably put her as well educated in the human world.

Appearance: As a dragon, Vasuki is a sight to behold, but she’s average size for her age. She’d seem quite large to humans though, standing at around 12ft, maybe a bit more or less. Her body is covered in strong, dark bronze scales. Definitely not colourful by any means, but most dragons aren’t extremely bright colours either way. Her wings are large in wingspan and size, and she has four legs; two back ones and her forearms. Though she usually walks on all fours, her forearms can be used as hands for grabbing tools. Her eyes contrast nicely against her darker scales, being a bright orange. She has six horns; two long ones, and four smaller ones below the top horns. Small ears, hard to notice.
Noticeable are the markings on the underside of her wings and underbelly, which are paler than the rest of her body. The markings are darker, and look like leopard print. She looks to have fins behind her horns and on her neck, but they’re not really aquatic fins. Fins are a pale orange colour. Sharper scales on face pointed backwards (same way as her horns) giving herself a sharper look.

As a human, Vasuki is about 5’7”, with fair skin, not pale but not tan either. Her eyes are dark brown and she has hair going down to her shoulder blades. Her hair is a dark brown, so dark that it almost looks black, but in the light you can see that it’s not. Athletic, well muscled body type. Some freckles on her arms and legs.
General style of clothing: As a dragon, none. That would be a bit complicated.
As a human, Vasuki wears differently depending on the season and weather. She really only wears her robes if she’s going somewhere formal, which she rarely does. Like most of the people on Camiguin, she likes to wear coats and pants made with more natural materials such as leathers and furs, using dyes to add colour. Her robes are red, burgundy; while she prefers to leave her average clothing it’s original colour, various brown shades. She also has a necklace with a small hooked (but dull) claw.
Personality: Curious, Vasuki is a challenger of the rules, but she does obey her mother’s rule of “not going past the limits of the island”, if only because no one else wants to break any of those rules. She can come off as bold, or even eager. Vasuki enjoys helping others. While she knows what some human things are, her understandings of other things are lacking. More in RP.

Background: She hatched on the island as the only child of her mother, Vellayl. Vellayl is a very caring mother, but serious and overprotective. Her mother had quite the hard time raising her, with how mischievous she was as a child. Although the two have a strong relationship leading up into adulthood, Vasuki finds her mother’s sternness restricting.
She was taught how to fight by her mother’s sister, Nokae.
She spends most of her spare time learning and speaking with the townspeople, but also enjoys just exploring the island. Even if she’s explored enough to have covered most of the island, it doesn’t stop her from going out each day. Still, not even the rules can stop her from casting a longing glance out to the barriers of Camiguin. Hoping, one day, she’d be able to explore the outside world. Maybe even see a human. Vasuki reasons since they could become humans, it would be fine for them to explore the human world as they could blend in. But Vellayl sees differently, and everyone knows Vellayl keeps order around here.
Family: Vellayl, a larger and older female dragon. Vasuki’s mother, alive. Could be considered the overruling leader of Camiguin, but they have a bigger system than just one leader. Nokae, a pale female dragon. An expert warrior, and also Vasuki’s aunt. Alive. Kona, brother of Vellayl. Deceased. Tonier, father of Vasuki. Unknown status, leaning towards deceased.
Other: None for now.

((Just a question, should the rp start during or after the plane crash? And would you like to start first, or should I?))

@gracehustle

(Just after the plane crashes would work best for me..and would you mind starting? I definitely can if it would be easier, but my starter probably wouldn't be up for several hours)

@Mojack group

Spending her time away from the main city was Vasuki, and Vasuki was expecting a normal day. She looked out to the water, perched on a cliff, out to the bright blue sky and clouds. The cool breeze by the water was always pleasant, and she closed her eyes for a moment, only to open them as she could hear the distant noise of something. It wasn’t a familiar sound, oh no - it was a strange, odd noise. Her ears picked up on the noise and she looked around, searching for the source, but she could see none. Just birds.

And then she caught sight of it. Something had made it through the barrier, and was heading towards the island at decent speeds. But..was that smoke? What sort of contraption was that, in the air? She watched it descend, thoughts sprawling throughout her mind. It was from outside the boundaries. A human thing? She debated flying up and trying to intercept it, but she knew she would be too slow. All she could do was watch and wait.
When it went out of sight, Vasuki lifted her head and sniffed. The distant scent of the smoke was in the air and there was still a trail of it in the sky, a trail she could easily follow, presumably to its location. She didn’t really think about the possible dangers, only that it was something from the human world. And the others must’ve heard or saw the thing too - Vasuki decided to go towards it, and investigate before anyone else decided to.
She proceeded on foot, following her nose, her eyes occasionally gazing to the sky to see the fading smoke.

@gracehustle

The crash was incediby painful to say the least. Max barely remembered much of it, besides the pain that came from slamming into ground that he was sure wasn't there minutes before. He remembered flying, remembered how his engine failed, remembered praying to whatever god was above as the water came closer, and then he remembered not dying. Where there used to be water beneath him, there was land, and it grew closer at the same speed the water did. He barely had time to react before he was thrown around in the metal coffin of a plane, slamming into ground and trees at high speeds.

Max wasn't even tossed from the wreckage as the plane crashed, but he was very much knocked unconscious for several long minutes. He came to with a soft groan, head spinning and fire crackling incredibly close to him. Most likely from the engine. That was the only thing that kept him from staying where he was, making him move. He crawled out of the plane slowly, dropping to the ground and instantly letting his knees buckle beneath him.

Gosh his head was pounding. He couldn't think much more than that, not even to find the source of the trails of blood running down his face. Max crawled away from his plane, crumpling onto his stomach and groaning in pain.

@Mojack group

It sure sounded like the thing had crashed into the ground, Vasuki had thought. A crash undoubtedly the ones at the city heard, and who knows when they would investigate. She wasn’t worried - the dragon practically raced forwards, temporarily faltering when she saw the damaged trees and ground. And the smoke - the scent made her wrinkle her nose; smoke was never a smell she enjoyed.

But she could see what had crashed from here. It was something she had never been before, and it was on fire. What was it? It didn’t look like it could fly, but she realized that was probably damaged from the crash. Of course it was. For a moment, she scoffed at herself - that made sense, how hadn’t she realized right away?
Her ears tilted, and she heard a noise. It was different from the crackling of the fire, it was something that couldn’t have come from the plane. Someone was in that plane?

For a moment, her eyes widened. A human? Maybe - it had come from outside, after all. Her focus was drawn away from the odd piece of machinery and instead to find the person, of which she assumed had to be nearby. It didn’t take long, though. Vasuki had seen what humans look like - she could turn into one herself. Yet she’d never seen a real, living human. From outside the barrier.
She caught sight of him and walked over, in silence, looking at him. Was he injured? She could smell blood. Vasuki’s shadow easily towered over the area, as she leaned in to look at the human more closely, curiosity overtaking her senses.

@gracehustle

Max stayed where he was until he could focus on anything other than his pain. It was still extremely close to unbearable as he opened his eyes, but at least he could focus. He blinked once, wiping blood out of his eye before frowning at the ground. Where there had used to be sun, now there was what looked like shade, but as he looked at the shade, it seemed much more like a shadow, especially as his eyes wandered up, focusing on what looked like claws? They couldn't be claws.

He continued starting in confusion at the claws, slowly looking up further and seeing large legs attached to said claws. Whatever it was, it definitely wasn't something he knew of, and as he finally looked up high enough to see a terrifying pair of wings and a head, he knew he was right. "What the hell…?" He muttered softly in French, just terrified enough not to move.

This thing looked very much like a dragon. Which he was entirely sure didn't exist.

@Mojack group

Vasuki looked at him. It did seem he was injured. Was he in the contraption? Vasuki wondered why anyone would go in that. She momentarily looks back at it, turning her head, then back to the human. All while remaining silent. It was when he spoke did Vasuki recognize the language, and she opened her mouth.
And she spoke, in French as well. “You are..human.” Vasuki observes, saying mostly to herself. This is perhaps the first encounter anyone’s had with a human in what - centuries? Even if it wasn’t displayed in her neutral tone, she did nothing to hide the excitement in her eyes.

@gracehustle

Max was frozen in his spot, staring at the dragon and almost flinching back when it opened it's mouth…speaking what was most definitely French. His eyes held his confusion, and he ignored what she said, speaking shakily in reply, "Please don't eat me." It was difficult to tell at first what the creature was, but as he wracked his brain, only one animal came to mind. This had to be a dragon. And yet, Max would bet on his life that they didn't exist. He had to be seeing things.

Of course, he had to be seeing things. That crash hadn't been easy, and he could barely see through the blood flowing over his eye from the gash on his forehead. He was just imaging a dragon, his mind was just messed up.

@Mojack group

Vasuki stares in silence for a few seconds, before her expression shifts to one almost of..disgust? “Why would I eat you?” Her tone almost seemed insulted - like she found the very idea of eating a human to be taboo. Which it was, in a way.

“You are human,” she repeats, “and injured?” Vasuki is unsure of what the extent of his injuries were. There looked to be blood, and he definitely did have wounds. As to what treatment it would require, unknown. They did have doctors back in Camiguin City, but it didn’t come to her mind at the moment.

@gracehustle

"Because dragons eat people," He replied, his tone holding much more question to the words than he had hoped. If this dragon was indeed real, and not a figment of his imagination, he wanted to live, and talking to that seemed like the best way to do so. Max nodded ever so slowly at the dragon's questions, reaching up to his head with a free hand and touching the blood on his face. "I suppose I am both of those things…why?"

Max still didn't move from where he was laying, even as the fire from his plane crackled louder, faint popping noises audible behind the flames. It didn't sound good, but he couldn't fix it. Not when he couldn't move and his head was still pounding.

@Mojack group

“No we don’t,” she answered quickly, hoping to dispel that thought. “Why would we eat humans when we have all we need on our island?”

Vasuki glances at the fire a bit more, before she returns to look at him. “I’ve just never seen a human before. A real human,” she drifts off, then returns to the topic of his injuries. “Would you like me to help you? You are injured, so..”

@gracehustle

Ever so slowly, Max pulled himself up onto his hands and knees, still wiping blood out of his eyes and blinking at his bloodstained hand. He couldn't have bleed enough to cover his hand, he couldn't have. "I..I can figure out how to fix this..I just need to grab the kit in my plane." It was an extremely stupid to turn back towards the plane, as it clearly was ready to fall apart or explode at any minute, but as Max struggled to his feet he did just that.

He didn't think through his actions, but he didn't stop himself either, even as he touched the metal exterior and pulled back his hand quickly from the heat of the metal. All his supplies were in there, everything. He needed to get into the plane.

@Mojack group

Vasuki watched him. “Uhm..that thing really, really doesn’t look safe to be near right now.” Despite her own words, she approached behind the human, doing her best to ignore the thick scent of smoke.
She looked at the plane, then back to him. “We have supplies at the city, I’m sure you’ll be able to find something there..” Vasuki whispered. As she did, parts of her body touched the plane, and while she could feel the heat, she did not move away.

@gracehustle

Max shook his head, trying once again to touch the hot metal of the plane, "I don't want help, you'll kill me." He pulled back his hand again as the metal burned him again, "I just have to get inside again."

The flames from before grew visibly, and the plane creaked loudly, a few visible flames following what looked suspiciously like fuel, jumping closer to the engine with every passing second. Max paid no attention to the encroaching flames as he tugged his flight suit sleeves over his hands, trying once more to hoist himself up towards the cockpit.

@Mojack group

“K-Kill you? Why would I..” Vasuki stuttered, her eyes looking at the fire. Even if she didn’t know what this object was, it wasn’t sounding good. And as her eyes caught sight of what the fire was following - Vasuki knew what that was at least, fuel. The dragon paced nervously, well aware of the danger there was at this moment.

With a growl, she returned to the plane, and instead, attempted to rip it open by biting into it. If the man needed inside the plane for whatever reason, she would help to the best of her ability. The metal was hot - and visible steam rose from her jaws when she bit from it.

@gracehustle

The metal gave way to her teeth like paper, and while she did succeed with biting into it, it also made the flames race by faster. The fire continued up, and the metal grew hotter, but she was making progress.

Max stepped back barely a half step, pressing a hand to the gouge on his forehead as he watched her with amazement and worry. If those jaws could rip into the metal of his plane that easily, he couldn't imagine what they would do to his body. He didn't voice any of his fears though. This dragon was helping him, and she was doing a much better job of getting towards his supply stash than he would've been able to.
