Seron is a planet that almost seems to pull in its visitors, either unwillingly or not. Humanity, in search for habitable planets, is aware of Seron as a possible candidate. Breathable air, a humid, jungle like ecosystem. The only thing is, is that life on Seron has been gone. For a while. Underground ruins litter Seron’s landscape, and in those ruins, lay relics of the past. The previous inhabitants of Seron, or what remains of them. Something happened here.

The Reliant - a colony ship of 1000 colonists sent to Seron comes across an unavoidable incident as it is suddenly struck by an ‘invisible wave’ while orbiting the planet. There’s no time to lose - get to the pods, evacuate.

Unfortunately, not many survive. The Reliant is no more, its remains sent crashing down to the ground, or to orbit the planet. Most of it was obliterated in the blast that consumed it. Pods too close - some were roasted alive, others sent off course. Luckily - or maybe not, depending on what they find on Seron - a few safely (with minor injuries, maybe) make it down to ground…but are alone. Alone in the wilderness of Seron. Yet oddly so, Seron seems to be completely uninhabited. No visible insects, no small or big animals, nothing. There’s trees and water of course - just lacking animals. Arguably, the silence is even worse than hearing what’s around you. And you don’t know if your communications will ever be online again, if you’ll get off this planet.

But you are not the first to come to Seron.
And you probably won’t be the last.

New RP: sci-fi with slight horror inspiration. You, the person joining this rp, are one of the survivors of The Reliant. You’re quite out of it, since evacuating was quite a blur and a rush. Your pod crashed in the jungle of Seron.

And you’re alone, as far as you know. Maybe you’ve tried to establish contact, or maybe you’re injured a bit. Maybe you’re trying to find other survivors - but it seems most of them have crashed miles off of your course.
There’s no sign of life except for the plants and yourself. But maybe, you’re not alone.
There’s probably a reason why no one’s ever made it off of Seron, after all.

Rules:

  1. No auto-hitting in fights; try to be fair.
  2. Cursing’s allowed.
  3. I’d prefer mature RPers.
  4. I will ask for a writing sample unless stated otherwise.
  5. No one liners.
  6. Blood is expected and fine; as well as violence.
  7. Romance is welcome…though we’ll see how it works out IF it’s even done.
  8. Feel free to ask any needed questions.
  9. This shall be updated as needed.

Now for some clarifications…

  • Spaceships are not common, not everyone has them. They’re really only used for missions like this. They’re more futuristic, though.
  • The year is 2103.
  • Humanity has never met an alien or seen evidence of one, other than that certain areas are good condition for life.
  • Your character is completely human. This can or may change throughout the course of the rp..depending on your choices ;)

And for the template (remove brackets.)

Name: Korb Erlach
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Questioning.
Species: Unclassified - not even Korb knows what he is. He’s definitely a hybrid of some sorts; he’s got human in him. The question is, what else is there…

Appearance: At least 7ft in height, standing up fully next to a full-human, Korb would be rather tall. Though he usually walks slightly lowered. He has unusual features, quite evident and noticeable (his legs, for example, he walks digitigrade as opposed to humans, who walk plantigrade.) Athletic structure, looks to have ‘human skin’ on certain areas of his body, then on other areas, completely black, smooth patches. The rest of his skin is fair toned, not pale but not dark. Most of his human patches of skin are more on his upper arms and legs as well as torso and lower neck.
Sharp nails, bigger hands and longer fingers. Notably five fingers as opposed to four, but he still has one thumb. Black nails.
As he is digitigrade, he walks on his toes as opposed to having the full foot on the ground. His feet look somewhat human, aside from being longer and having longer toes, as well as sharper black nails. They’re the same dark charcoal colour, as is his hands.
His back has small ‘dorsal spines’ running down his spine. These are dull, not sharp. They’re paler in colour, unlike the dark skin that surrounds it. His shoulders are rougher in both texture and feel, almost scaly.

Most notable, he has a long tail, both used as a tool and weapon. And generally useful. The tail starts out somewhat similar to the dark, charcoal colour of his main body, but gradually goes paler, like a pale grey towards the end. The dorsal spines on his spine move down his tail, also being sharper. His tail has the texture of an exoskeleton. Sharp ending to it - sharp enough to pierce skin.

His facial features are probably one of the most alien parts of him, and that’s saying something. He looks..human enough, unusual compared to the rest of the body. But when you consider how he can essentially break his own jaw - split open the bottom of it as a method of intimidation, that’s when things get weird. One could easily see the horizontal lines on the side of his mouth and the singular vertical one underneath it and mistake them for scars, but that’s not the case.
His first row of teeth are human like, albeit with more canine teeth than usual (and longer.) He has two rows at a time in total - his secondary row of teeth are even, but razor sharp.
Korb is somewhat limited in facial expressions, but he makes up. He’s able to produce what looks like a smile, identified by him barely lifting up the corners of his mouth.

His eyes are a hazel, with golden flecks. His right pupil is human enough, as opposed to his left pupil, which almost ‘leaks’ into the iris. Surprisingly, this doesn’t seem to affect his vision. In fact, Korb would consider this natural, if only progressing more and more as he gets older. Korb suspects it’ll eventually spread to his right eye.
Auburn hair, prefers to keep it trimmed. He’s not a professional by any means nor does he have access to the best tools, but he makes it work. His hair typically stays by his ears, never going below them.
Similar to what’s on his shoulders, scales on his lower jaw and cheeks. Korb didn’t always have these scales - he got them as he aged.

Clothing style: Clothing designed for easy movement and camo. Covers most of his features - with the speed Korb moves at, it may take a second glance to go “oh, that’s not..a human…” Coloured dark, earthy browns and maybe some navy blue in there. Some green, the same dark green as much of the plant life is on Seron. Surprisingly human in design. He has pants and shirt - obviously made to suit his unique body type. He does not sport shoes, simply going by shoes are too difficult for him. Wears what seems to be a cloak, or a variation of some type. A mask - with what seem to be night vision goggles. No gloves for him, usually. The mask can be worn partially, only showing his eyes at times.

Personality: Korb likes to learn. He’s come from a background of learning - heck, even his origin quite literally resulted from years of study. He’s down-to-earth, perceptive. Able to notice things that are out of the ordinary. He knows that he’s not human and that he’s different, but never sees humans as lesser beings unless they do something that would make him consider it. Despite his beastlike appearance, Korb makes an attempt to be polite as possible. Just as ‘Father’ taught.
Although he acts as a human, Korb is not without his faults. He has slipped up, and whatever DNA that’s lurking inside of him contributes to it. It’s easy to forget that, underneath the polite persona, he’s something of an apex predator, that has killed before. Although polite, Korb has a limit. If you do not work with him, he will snap at you…and often feel guilty later.

Skills: He’s an expert in hunting - that’s clear enough. Patience is key, as well as stealth. But also good with fighting, though his style utilizes his natural weaponry as opposed to tools. He is most definitely stronger than a human, capable of lifting one up using just one of his hands. Tracking is another special skill - his unique sight allows him to do so, almost able to see highlights of footprints on the ground, more commonly blood that may have dried. Knows how to write and speak several languages.

Hobbies: Learning. Korb was born to learn. When he’s not investigating mysterious intruders, Korb likes to visit some of the ruins and study them. With what information he has he also enjoys reading. Overall just relaxing is fine with him, if that counts. He likes to write and document his life on Seron as well as his thoughts..it’s quite clear that he wonders if he’s the only one of his kind.

Background: Korb had an interesting upbringing. Korb is something artificial. He was brought into the world by Doctor Erlach, who did not intend for Korb to come out the way he was. Yet despite his imperfections, Erlach would call Korb his son, and teach him that he was ‘Father.’ Although Erlach was often busy with his studies, he took time for his ‘son’, to teach him and encourage him to ask questions. They had a good relationship if anything, with Erlach teaching him things that he may have learnt back on Earth if he had went to school there.
But after an unprecedented incident…leaving Korb alone on Seron, he spends his time studying the world. Occasionally, ships crash down, most often far away from Korb. He’s been careful of how far he ventures.
Korb has never been to space, he’s never seen the cosmos. He’s never seen Seron from above. He’s only seen pictures of Earth, shown to him by Erlach, the “origin of humans.” Speaking of Erlach - Erlach was on a previous mission on a ship known as the Spectator, which lost contact with Earth when it crashed onto Seron, with Erlach surviving and preforming his science on the surface of the planet. There were other survivors…I wonder what happened to them?

The remains of the Spectator were overtaken by the flora of Seron quickly. The Spectator rests at an angle, and though it is overgrown, anyone who has seen a ship in the air would realize upon approaching it, that the Spectator was once a shiny ship.
Korb makes his home in the Spectator, though he knows not what it is nor of the history of it. He only knows it as ‘home.’
Other: Primarily carnivorous. He’s not starving, though, implying there is some sort of wildlife on Seron. Soft spot for sweet things like honey. Weaker eyesight during daytime. Though capable of eating cooked food, he prefers it raw. He does have the knowledge to cook food despite this.
Korb was named by himself. Erlach was the Doctor’s last name.
