"Lesson number one: fairy magic is linked to emotion. Now, I'm not stupid enough to believe that teenagers like yourselves sometimes let your emotions don't get the best of you, and you make quick, rash decisions that may come back to haunt you. Our school was designed with that in mind. Within these walls and in the Stone Circle, you will learn control. You will be able to harness abilities at the snap of a finger, and with time, practice and patience, you may come to learn other abilities as well. But you will begin your first year by learning the magic you were born with. As I'm sure you've realized by now, I am Headmistress Dowling. Welcome to Alfea."

Alfea is the most prestigious Otherworld school for learning fairy magic or training to become a specialist. It's your first year, and you don't know what to expect. But soon, the Otherworld will be in danger. Let's hope you've learned your magic by then…

Based on the Netflix series Fate: The Winx Saga. You don't have to have seen the show, but it would help. If not, don't worry, you can still join!! I will be using Farah Dowling, the Headmistress of Alfea, as my character, and probably the other teachers too (Saul Silva and Ben Harvey). It's loosely going to follow the plot of the actual show.

Name: Mila “Mia” Brontan
Age: 20
Gender: female
Year: 2
Species: Fairy
Fairy Type/Specialist: Air
Appearance: Mila is about average height with a slender build. She has pale blonde hair in a sharp-cut bob right at her jaw and vibrant blue-green eyes that has a small ring of gold around the edge.
Personality: You would think that Mila would be a very energetic person but she can actually be very focused and just a bit impulsive. She has dry snarky sense of humor, a bit blunt at times, loves storms, and prefers the most direct way of doing things. Not that she's hotheaded, usually she's pretty calm unless you do something to really get under her skin then pretty much everyone around her can feel their hair stand on end.
Abilities: Electrokinesis which includes electric blasts and just plain being able to shock someone, Activation & Deactivation of electronic devices, and Electrical Absorption. Electrical Transportation is one that she’s still trying to figure out and I'm not too sure about this last one; Electric Mimicry (transform entire body into a lightning-like being of pure electrical energy).
Strengths: In regards to her magic; water is actually both a strength and a weakness since it provides a very strong conduit but… if submerged unexpectedly she can “short-out”. Personality-wise she's effective, perseverant, and practical.
Weaknesses: not much of a leader though she's trying to study strategy, a bit stubborn, and resistant to certain changes that have a strong impact on her personally.

Name: Penelope "Penny" Kim
Age: 19
Gender: female
Year: 1
Species: fairy
Fairy Type/Specialist: fire
Appearance: The first thing that anyone notices about Penny wouldn't be her appearance, but her fashion style. She dresses fairly alternative, with lots layers and accessories. Her medium-length hair is dyed a bright red and she has three earlobe piercings on her left ear and one on her right. She also has an industrial piercing on her left ear as well. Penny always wears eyeliner and sometimes a full face of makeup as well, which can cover the smattering of freckles she has on her nose and cheeks. She has a heart-shaped face with full cheeks, making her look a bit younger than she actually is. She hates her "baby face" and hates it when people mistake her for someone younger. She has full lips and a soft jawline. Penny has a curvier body type and stands at the incredibly tall height of 5' 2", though she usually wears platforms to make her taller. She also has a penchant for press on nails, but not the super long ones, because they're a hindrance at that point. She has a tan skin tone.
Personality: Like her speciality, Penny is fiery. She's sarcastic, provoking, and mercurial. She likes to joke around a lot and is rarely serious. Her combative nature has gotten her in trouble in the past, but she continues to do the same thing with the same results. Despite her combative personality, she is serious in her studies, which sometimes shocks people when they find out. She is also a pretty good friend, always willing to put others first and stand up for them when needed. She has always been the person to take the heat (both literally and metaphorically) for someone else. She's passionate and cares about others, though she is not a fan of authority figures, especially those who abusive their power. She is also always down to have some fun and let loose, encouraging her friends not to be so serious all the time. She always knows the right time to bring some levity to the situation (but never the right time to stop). She tends to go too far sometimes, not knowing when to stop in general.
Abilities: Pyrokinesis (can control fire), fire resistance, thermokinesis (can control the temperature of things, like heating up soup)
Strengths: She's powerful, able to conjure up large amounts of fire. However, she lacks precision and if she's not careful, she could end up burning everyone in the area. She's also bold, caring, and loyal to the end. She is a great friend most of the time and never one to back down. Her stubbornness can be a strength sometimes, since she never quits and will get back up as many times as she physically can when she gets knocked down. She has tenacity and a drive to work for what she wants.
Weaknesses: Like mentioned above, she lacks precision or proper training with her abilities, causing them to go out of control if her emotions get ahold of her. She is also emotional and can be volatile when angered. Penny also doesn't always know the right time or place for something, and her manners are somewhat lacking. She has a lack of respect for authority figures as well. She is a bit too selfless and loyal at times, not thinking about her own safety in favor of helping others, which can lead to her getting hurt. Her stubbornness can be a weakness as well, because she hates admitting that she's wrong.

(Yeah, you don’t have to know Fate. So the original rp I had of this worked better with only having two student characters interact as roommates, so I think I’ll close this and have it happen that way again. Less chaotic lol)

It was Farah Dowling’s 16th first day as the Headmistress of Alfea College, and yet she somehow still felt as if on some obscure level, it was the equivalent the first day of her very first year. It’s not that she was nervous, goodness no. She was a figurehead at Alfea, the fairy Headmistress, and that meant projecting strength every second of every day whether she was nervous or not. She wasn’t unprepared either. Each year before the start of the first semester, she completed piles upon piles of paperwork and lesson plans to prepare for dozens of classes the semester.

So then what was it that made her feel so unsure about the upcoming year?

Lost in her thoughts, she didn’t notice Saúl Silva, the Specialist Headmaster, enter her office. He stood just inside the doorway, watching her study feverishly over file after file and move them from once side of her desk to the other before he smirked and knocked on the door frame. “Farah?”

Farah’s head looked up quickly in shock, and her natural eyes narrowed and flickered silver-blue for a second, but they changed back to brown quickly when she saw it was only Saúl who startled her. She relaxed and shook her head. “Saúl… No need to scare me like that.”

Saúl chuckled to himself. “I’ve been here for over a minute.”

“Oh.” Farah scolded herself internally for not noticing him sooner. Some mind fairy she was. “Can I help you?”

“Just wanted to see what you’re up to,” he remarked and entered deeper into her office while shutting the door behind him.

“Nothing much. Usual first day business, that’s all,” Farah replied, setting the sheet of paper in her hands down. “Where is Ben?”

“I saw him heading towards the greenhouse,” Saúl answered, coming around behind her desk to stand next to her seat. “Farah, what’s going on? You’re already busier than usual, and it’s only the first day."

“Don’t tease me, Saúl,” Farah retorted.

Saúl's eyebrows arched. "Well?"

“Wouldn’t you like to know?”

“Yes, I would! It’s why I asked.”

Farah laughed, but she still didn’t answer his question. As much as she wanted to tell him everything running through her mind, she didn’t. The weight of it was draped around her shoulders and hers alone. She was determined to keep it that way.

"Why are you here anyway? Aren't there some first year Specialists who need to meet their headmaster?" she suggests, arching an eyebrow.

"And aren't there some first year fairies who need to meet their headmistress?" he countered.

Farah sighed. She knew she would get absolutely nowhere if they continued this back-and-forth banter, so she pushed herself out of her seat and headed toward the door. "You, Saúl Silva, are officially the most difficult man I've ever met,” she declared at her fingers plucked her coat from the hanger by the door.

Saúl grinned and followed her. "A title I hold with pride."

Farah rolled her eyes and slipped her arms through the sleeves of her coat quickly before opening the door. She strode confidently through the hallowed halls of Alfea College, and her head was held high with an air of importance surrounding her.

Penny blew a strand of hair out of her face, studying the map that she'd been given of the school. She'd recently dyed her hair again, this time a bright red instead of the orange that had previously been her hair color. It looked nice, but sometimes when she saw it out of the corner of her eye she got momentarily confused. However, that split second of forgetfulness was dwarfed by the immensity of this place. It was all so crazy. She was surprised she was even allowed to come, given how many times she'd nearly gotten expelled from her last school. Unfortunately, she was left with the reputation of being a pyromaniac. That of course wasn't the case, but it was a bit difficult to change people's opinions of oneself after being labelled a troublemaker.

Penny glanced up from the map again, frowning. Was she holding it wrong? She'd never been great with directions, and now was no different. Maybe if she glared at it hard enough, the map would make sense. Ha. When that didn't work, it simply annoyed her. Was she stupid or something? Naturally, her powers chose this annoyance as good enough fuel to incinerate the map entirely, to which Penny let out a sharp yelp before slapping her hand in front of her mouth and clamping her mouth shut, hoping no one had witnessed that.

Well shit. Now she had no map and no sense of direction to get to her dorm room. She sighed and smoothed out her hair, trying to think of a way to get there. She supposed she could ask for directions, but she didn't want to look more like an idiot then she doubtlessly already did. Plus, she was not going to be indebted to someone here on the first day. She chewed her lip as she pondered this dilemma, realizing too late that the orange-red lipstick she was wearing was probably transferring to her teeth. Just perfect. She pulled out her phone to use a mirror, quickly fixing that mistake as well, and opening her GPS app. Well, according to her phone, she was close. It should be just around this corner, and…SMACK!

Penny recoiled back from the wall, having hit her forehead right on the corner. Could she look any dumber in public? She rubbed at her forehead, knowing for sure a lump was going to form there now. She was starting to hope someone would just put her out of her misery instead of letting her make a fool out of herself out in public. Could her first day at Alfea get off to a worse start?

As a second-year in Alfea College, Mila was fairly certain of where she needed to go. The grounds didn't look like they had changed much since the last day of her first year, and likely hadn't. It was admittedly a little surreal as she wove her way through the semi-frantic new students and the faculty trying to reign in some of the chaos, remembering that had been her. A small smile twitched at her lips as she also remembered what had happened to her hair, and the hair of everyone in a two-foot radius around her, because her emotions got the better of her magic. It had been an embarrassing moment, but it also could have been much worse.

Mila raised a brow when she noticed one student in particular with bright red hair burn the map she had been holding. Admittedly, she almost laughed but was able to suppress the urge and was about to walk on when the same fairy walked right into a wall!

The young blonde winced at the sight and quickly caught up to the other. “Are you alright?” she asked once she was finally close enough to have a conversation.

@menace-to-society

Penny blinked, unsure how to feel that someone was, in fact, coming to her rescue. Well, more or less. Sure, she was glad but she was also a bit annoyed that they'd seen her like this. She turned to face the person who had spoken and noticed a pretty blonde girl with a sharp bob and bright eyes looking at her with concern. Well, at least she appeared genuinely nice. Penny felt her face heat up slightly, realizing once again just how many people had witnessed her embarrassment. Awesome.

"I'll be fine," she responded gruffly, hand still cradling her forehead. "It was just a bump, that's all." She then realized she was no longer holding her phone, so she quickly picked it up from the ground, trying not to wince at the new crack on the screen. It had already been cracked to begin with, but a new fissure spiderwebbed on the surface now. She shoved it into the back pocket of her red, striped pants. She loved the pants because they almost matched her new hair color, though how great she had dressed today was overshadowed by the embarrassment that she had undergone. Even her cute matching silver jewelry or black cropped t-shirt couldn't make her cool now. She was already dreading this nice girl's impression of her, but kept her expression steady in the RBF that was said to plague her. Honestly, Penny didn't care about that as long as it didn't make her look like a sixteen year old.

As Farah strode across the campus, the faces of many second, third, and fourth year students stood out to her as she recognized them from classes she taught over the years.

However, her observant eyes were quick to lock on a girl with fiery red hair with red lipstick and red striped pants to match. Alfea’s headmistress quickly identified her: Penelope Kim.

She watched while in subsequent fashion, Penelope incinerated her map of Alfea and ran into a wall.

Farah sighed quietly. She, of course, was familiar with the girl’s reputation, and she still admitted her. Alfea was a place where fairies with varying degrees of magical ability could come to grow and learn control over their magic.

The headmistress debated approaching Penelope when a second-year, who Farah particularly recognized from the amount of trouble she'd unintentionally caused last year, approached her to make sure the girl was alright.

Farah’s mind brought her back to the days, if not weeks, she spent dealing with the aftermath of the situation, and she knew she had gained a few extra grey hairs because of this girl. Still, she was a nice girl who Farah liked, and she smiled as she chose this much better moment to approach the two girls.

"Hello, Mila. It’s lovely to see you again,” she greeted warmly. “Have you been practicing your abilities over the summer recess like we discussed at the end of last term?”
