It was bestowed upon Bane when he was two. He was small compared to the sword but learned to master it by age 6. It is unknown who made it

What makes the sword special to hellhounds is that they can make the blade liquify into normal shadow. Then they can reform it into solidified shadow
When in contact with the skin, the cut will feel cold. It may seem like you have frostbite initially. Once treated, no frostbite related issues occur
