Photo-vegans

Description - How would you describe the Photo-vegans group?

As the penultimate culmination of No True Scotsman progression from vegetarianism (vegetarians --> vegans --> raw vegans --> ...), photo-vegans endure exhausting transhumanist surgery to enable their bodies to absorb nutrients directly from sunlight, like plants.

Also commonly referred to by outsiders (derogatorily) as "plants" and "sunheads".

Motivations - What motivates Photo-vegans?

Photo-vegans feel a close connection to plants, the most peaceful organisms on earth: they don't harm anything to eat it and only survive off what is naturally ubiquitous and freely offered to them.

They look down on other derivative forms of vegetarianism as "not good enough" and have effectively painted themselves as a parody of their beliefs by believing so strongly that their way is the only way to live.

Goals - What is the primary goal of Photo-vegans?

It's not enough to just live off of photosynthesis; sunheads can often be found ridiculing others who find it acceptable to kill animals (or plants) and advocating for more widespread (and/or mandated) photosynthesis-enabling surgery. In their eyes, transforming others into plants does them no harm and prevents the harm of many plants and animals, so is a morally good endeavor to take.

Obstacles - What obstacles stand in the way of Photo-vegans?

Meat is delicious. Plants can be, too.

Risks - What risks are on the line for Photo-vegans?

Direct sunlight doesn't offer all of the nutrients necessary for a full, healthy life, and many photo-vegans either take supplements or live in a carefree zombie-esque state where they're alive, but don't have the physical or mental energy to make any contributions to society -- large or small.

[needs research on what necessary nutrients are missing from sunlight]
