About Jyta
Jyta
An island nation a couple thousand miles South East from the coast of Qereni, Jyta remains the trade and business center of the world- and is in direct competition with Neverni and the NNC. Jyta is rich with mountains, lush tropical forests, beaches, and ricefields.
Opposed to its neighbor Qereni, Jyta has had mostly closed borders over the last few centuries, and only allows in trade. Jytan people are not too friendly to immigrants unless they're there on business. Jytan people are however free to leave and return to and from their homeland as much as they please. Jyta also specializes in excellent healthcare, and are second to Neverni. For Jytan citizens, healthcare is free.
Jytan people are often seen as rude or snubbish, but prefer to be left alone. Jytan communities aren't as individual focused as other cultures. The Jytan culture focuses on contributing to the society, and value hard work and pragmatism. Saying all Jytan people are cruel and heartless is a stereotype, however, as many are very family oriented, and care just as much about other people as anyone else in the world!
Additionally, Jytan people have a very family focused culture, and are more traditional than most. Jytan weddings are known to be the most ritualistic and extreme in the world, and take extra steps to please their ancestors. Because of these traditional views, social divergency such as queer identity are taboo, and marriage between people of the same gender is not legal. People who don't follow these values, such as people with queer identities, people who have children out of marriage, or otherwise displease their ancestors, are considered "cursed" by others in the community. Deep down, these people aren't judgemental, but have been raised in a society that genuinely believes going against tradition is harmful, and a kind of karma will be enforced at the end of one's life by their ancestors.
