Maiyve was born into the Bluejay flock, and quickly became on of the smartest and most soft-spoken students in the Bluejay flock. At the age of eight, she learned about the "tests," believing them to be a test of whether one was smart or unintelligent. At the age of thirteen, her older brother Christopher was taken away after his test and they never heard from or saw him again. She only learned their real purpose was to determine who would become an operative of the government when she was fourteen. At the age of eighteen, she took her first "test," and her results mark her as a positive choice for a Masser, a rare form of flying operative which is often on the front lines of battle. After she is trained and is in her first battle, Maiyve decides to solve the mystery of her brother and stop the tests once and for all.
