he went through a huge glow-up in high school, his parents saw it as an opportunity to use their son's newfound popularity for their own personal gain.

they encouraged his over-confidenr and cocky behavior; seeing it as a way to show off them being "good parents" for teaching their sons confidence to grow.

which kiiiinda resulted in him seeing that actual achievements or successes don't matter; instead seeing attention and perception around him as the only thing that did.

he ended up being raised with the mindset that no one's feelings really mattered as long as one has the looks and the attitude to back it up.
