In my world there are people who are part animal and can shapeshift they are called Animi, they each have one specific species they can transform into. The classes aren't split by predator or prey, they're split by what type of animal you are. Feline, Canine, Rodent, etc. So what other things should I add to this?
What are they there to learn?
Something you could add is: are there tiers? Like certain animals are higher up?
I wrote a really short story last year where it was kinda like this but they were actual hybrids, not shapeshifters.
Low Tier-common animals such as rabbits and dogs;
Middle Tier-wild animals like wolves and bears;
High Tier-endangered animals under 'vulnerable' and 'near threatened' on the official WWF site, such as the snow leopard or the jaguar;
Top Tier-endangered animals under 'critically endangered' and 'endangered' on the official WWF site, like the orangutan or the bonobo
(also the higher your tier the richer you are without doing any work)
Maybe you could incorporate something similar? Like depending on the animal you can change into, it affects your status? Even if it's even just between the classes.
I guess they do have something similar to that^^^ Domestic animals like cats or dogs get teased or excluded for being 'the human's pets'.
What are they there to learn?
They have normal subjects, like math and writing, but mainly they focus on science. Biology and Zoology, also they have to learn about magic.
