So. Shilami (She lahm ee, with stress on the first syllable) is from the Menna tribe. Her name means Sparkle/Shine etc. In English this is a terrible name. Oh well.
Mahid means skillful or adept. He is next in line for the AlFen thrown should his father die. (Which unless he is killed will be some time as the AlFen sometimes live to 200.)
History. Back in the day, the god of this world gave gifts to the four tribes so that they could make their way better in a poisoned world. (Evil godlike things poisoned the ground so that life sucks. The same amount as our world.)
The AlFen have heightened senses and their irises are like cat's eyes. They are also pretty much all of them amazingly beautiful.
The Menna are the only light skinned tribe, and they think outside the box and are very inventive.

So the AlFen these days are obsessed with art and beauty. One of these days they're going to have class warfare and the ruling class will perish. Oh well.
The Menna are chill, doing what they normally do, which is whatever they feel like so long as they won't die.

Pfft I gotta go. I'll post a lot more. Ask lots of questions.

So something that needs to be understood is the AlFen houses. Think HP, only your job was your house and you could choose your job/house. There are honorable houses and less honorable house. The AlFen (at this period) believe beauty is the greatest of things, so a house that produces necessities (such as the house of archery) is lesser. Stupid I know. There will be a class revolution after the third book that will catch the high AlFen by surprise.
The children of the higher houses are told to go to the highest house they can manage. (The way to do this is to beg to apprentice under a master of a house.) The low AlFen children are told to do whatever they want.
The AlFen have this thing against the other tribes because they think they are the absolute best and that marrying outside the tribe will produce inferior offspring and taint their bloodline. Most of the high AlFen support this. Most of the low AlFen don't.
The fact that Mahid marries a Menna is the second biggest scandal the tribe could ever see (the king behaving in such a manner being the biggest.) And that's what the RP is about. Him falling for someone and plunging his reputation to the dirt by breaking social customs and norms.
