Adalise smiled back and arched her eyebrows. She liked this girl. Her warm brown eyes observed her face. "Thank you. I'd prefer my image not to be soiled before the first day of classes," she replied. "And… I'm not sure I caught your name, darling."

Lavender stuck her right hand out towards the woman, a warm smile grazing her plump, pink lips.
"Lavender" she said cheerily "Lavender Holmson" she added quickly, waiting for the woman to shake her hand as politely as possible.

"Well, Lavender," the teacher said, shaking her student's hand with certainty, "I'm Miss Lansing, and I look forward to having you in class." Adalise committed the name to her memory along with the face of the girl, and with a spark of excitement, she thought she remembered seeing the name "Holmson" on one of her class rosters.

"thank you, I think I have you at some point later in the day" Lavender said, letting go of the teachers hand quickly, as to prevent her hand from starting to sweat excessively.

"I'll be looking forward to class though" She added, giving the woman a salute.

Alene was able to get settled before Narcisa showed. Their room had a large, cheap looking dresser that she hoped would work for them both. The stain was a good color at least. She would take the bottom two drawers and let Narcisa take the rest. Besides, the closet would work for most of her things. The bunk bed was tasteless, some mass produced junk, but even a stately academy had to be frugal, she supposed. She’d take the bottom. It wasn’t that she minded heights exactly. It was just more difficult to fall from them when short.
She sat on the bed, then laid back, exhaling slowly, the blanket cold on her sweatered back. She laid still for a few minutes, awake in body only, until she heard the sound of approaching pounding steps.

Adalise arched her eyebrows in amusement and saluted back. "I'm looking forward to it as well, Miss Holmson. Very much so." With that, she turned and headed down the hallway, slowing her pace briefly as she passed a room with a girl laying down on the bottom bunk of a bunk bed. Adalise was intrigued, but she wasn't sure she had time to pause with her rounds and still make it back to her own room on time.

The footsteps slowed. Narcisa? Alene sat up to see a woman far too old to be a teacher. Of course. She cursed herself. The heels should have alerted her. Or should they have? Alene couldn’t remember what the dress code said about heels. Not that she wore anything close to what the woman was wearing. Short wedges were the closest she got.
“Professor,” she greeted, the slightest hint of both mockery and uncertainty in her voice.

Lavender then made her way down the corridors and halls, touching the tips of her right hand lightly to the stone and such various materials as she made her way slowly, she paused to look out a large stained glass window, somehow she had never noticed before, she paused, studying it, then ran back to her room, taking various corners in which her skirt swung against her pale skin as she turned sharply.

When she got back to the room she shared with Daria, she didn't stop to say hello, she wasn't even sure if the other girl was in their room. She rummaged in the desks of her drawers until she found her sketchbook, which was plastered with a light pastel purple and said her name in cursive; the purple sightly darker than the background, she shoved it under her arm, then grabbed a stubbed piece of charcoal and a pencil with a full eraser and made her way quickly back to the stained glass window, which was made to have various colored trees and flowers on it, she sat down; right on the cold floor and turned to a blank page in her sketchbook and began to sketch the window.

Adalise stopped as an interestingly toned voice addressed her. She stopped, turned, and posted herself at the doorway with an arched eyebrow. Deciding she wasn't going to have any of what this girl was giving, she responded in the same tone the girl had used with her, "Student."

(By the way, if the other two don't come back, we can just have Alene and Lavender be roommates)

“They are indeed,” Adalise replied, tapping her toe on the ground. “If you call an endless supply of blisters and an added four inches perks.” She was much more careful about her phrasing than she was around Lavender and for good reason. Not only did she wish to keep from potentially soiling her reputation any more before the first day, but this girl also seemed to have a… je ne sais quoi about her.

She arched an eyebrow. “I personally can’t see the benefits to such accoutrements, Alene’s eyes narrowed to Adalise’s feet. “The added height is too precarious to be worth the extension.” Her eyes flashed to Adalise’s for a second with a smirk. “And I would know.” The fact that she was still sitting down made the difference of height even more marked. She stayed sitting.

Adalise arched her eyebrows and smirked back, again mirroring the girl's expression while giving her a once-over. "It's not too terribly bad," she remarked, taking a step into the room. "I like the sound they make in the halls." She tapped the heel on the floor to demonstrate the sound. "It makes me sound important."

@EtherealDreamer

Lavender sat quietly, ignoring the whispers of students that passed her and wondered what she was doing. She continued sketching the picture window in charcoal, touching the charcoal lightly to the paper as she went.

Adalise raised her chin in the air and exhaled swiftly. "No," she replied, taking a small step into the room as a group of girls carrying large boxes passed through the hallway. "I'm talking to you because you're interesting. And no, I don't like to feel important. I'm not like the other teachers here. I hope that my importance – if indeed I'm able to gain any – comes from respect."

@EtherealDreamer

(whats the situation with the rooms look like?)

Lavender stood up, holding her charcoal grey skirt down as she did, so her undergarments did not show. She didn't bother closing her sketchbook and tucked it under her arm, hurrying to her dorm room, where she took refuge at her desk and began to erase the charcoal and pen it with a black pen, she then pulled out her watercolor pencils and began to color it starting from the outside in.

@emilyevewrites group

(So, neither of the other two are responding, so I'm going to assume they both dropped out. Either Lavender or Alene will have to move rooms so they can be roommates since that will just be the easiest option. I'll send a teacher over to Lavender in my next reply, since Adalise and Alene are talking.)

Alene gave her a once over before looking her directly in the eye. Then she smirked. “Good luck then.”

@emilyevewrites group

Adalise arched her eyebrow and let the corner of her lip twitch upward as a response. "What's your name?"

Kirsten Spades walked with authority through the dormitory halls. It was a different walk than Miss Lansing's, and the students shuffled into their rooms to let Ms. Spades pass. She eventually found her destination and knocked on the wooden doorframe, since the door was already open. "Miss Holmson?" she asked in a tone that dared anyone to question her.
