Not sure how to react, Kye stayed on the ground. Staring up. "The ground there has always been solid. And it wasn't going to cave in, I would have known," he said to himself. "What just happened?"
Not sure how to react, Kye stayed on the ground. Staring up. "The ground there has always been solid. And it wasn't going to cave in, I would have known," he said to himself. "What just happened?"
Hunter sighed and slipped behind a tree, away from prying eyes. She pulled her hood off her face, revealing dark hair and glowing blue eyes. She touched the tree and found herself in another forest.
Is this a O/O?//
No! Feel free to join if you want!
After a bit of contemplation, Kye pushed himself up, and looked around. It was still dark.
Hunter heard a noise and froze. The portal to the world hadn't been opened for more than a century, and everyone knew this was part of her territory. She looked around, pulling her hood back over her face.
Kye, reached into his backpack, pulled out his torch and light it. Lighting up the room he was in.
Hunter stepped from the shadows and moved towards the light and noise. This idiot really must be from Earth: no one in their right mind would light a torch in this area.
Kye froze when he heard footsteps. He put out his light and crouched down. Keeping quiet.
"I know you're there!" Hunter called. "No idiot in their right mind would light a torch here. You're a newbie."
Dammit, he thought to himself. Whoever this was they didn't sound friendly. "Well, it seemed like a good idea at the time," he mumbled. "Who are you?"
Hunter sighed, walking into the cave. She was once again glad for her Earth clothes. "Hunter," she hesitated, "Jynx. You?"
"Kye," he replied. "The cave dweller. I promise I do not mean any harm. Please do not kill me."
Hunter laughed, though it was slightly forced. "I won't. I'm from Earth, like you," she said. Liar, her conscience said, but she ignored it.
"Uuuh…" Kye was quiet for a moment. "Would you believe me if I told you that I wasn't from earth?"
Hunter shrugged. "Well, I have a guy's name and I have been to this world many times. I'd believe it."
"Good, cause I'm not from earth," Kye explained. "I fell through the floor and ended up here. Not on purpose."
Hunter snorted. "Well, welcome to Ariema. It sucks here, but if you're here, you really have no way of getting back until you fulfill whatever quest the universe has given you." She said the last part slightly bitterly.
"Oh, fun. This is not what I had planned for the weekend," Kye sighed. He then lit his torch again. The light reflecting off his purple eyes.
Hunter laughed. "Well, welcome to the fucking way of things." She helped him up. "Let me show you a place near here that you can rest. Then we can figure out why you were sent here."
"Finding out why I'm here would be nice," Kye allowed her to help him up. "Why are you here?"
Hunter looked away. "Err… that's not important right now." She jerked her head towards the dark woods. "This way. And step exactly where I step. There are sinkholes, poisonous gas and creatures that will jump out at you if you're not careful."
"I'm good at staying careful," Kye said following Hunter, and being careful to step where she stepped.
Hunter led him through the forest and to a large tree. She pointed to a ladder against it. "Climb. I have to wipe away our tracks."
"Okay," Kye wasn't sure if he actually trusted Hunter, but he wasn't about to get into a fight. If he could stay on her good side he was okay with that. He started climbing the ladder.
Hunter wiped the tracks away and hurried back to the tree house. She didn't trust this Kye figure, and thought it was best not to let him go unsupervised.
Kye stood off to the side of the room. He was still holding his torch, but he also had his other hand resting on his dagger.
Hunter emerged, saw that he hadn't touched the chest, and sighed with relief. She climbed the rest of the way in and shut the trapdoor.
"So do you have any idea why I'm here?" Kye asked. "I have other things to do. The sooner I get out of here the better."
Hunter shook her head. "No idea." She led him up a staircase and into a small bedroom. It was a descent size, and had a bed next to a window that had a great view of the forest, and a chest. "Here's where you'll sleep. We can talk in the morning."
