okay so this is the original thread I got the idea from. I want to write some amateur poems in English so I thought it'll be fun if you guys could give me some prompts. rules are: one prompt per person, and nothing NSFW. I decide the length. you decide the topic.

Huh, could you write something about someone finding an old album they used to listen to when they were a kid and realizing just how sad it was?

I'll try!

there's this box in my grandma's attic
with records
unlabeled
I took one and looked for the gramophone she cherished so much
she used to listen by the window

I found it
it was standing on the dusty light, majestically
beaming with antiquity and beauty

I gently placed the record not knowing what to expect

and suddenly I fell asleep

I woke up in her arms embracing me just like I was her gramophone
she was stroking my hair
showing me the sky
saying "we're lucky to see the sun, aren't we?"
and in the background there was her favorite music
but I hated it
it was so, so old

but now I drown in its caressive sounds
wishing for them never to end
and I miss her
I miss you

And I loved this, by the way!

Write a poem about someone contemplating an old love whom they were forced to part with even though they both still loved one another.

where are you now while I'm lying in my bed we used to jump on every night?
where are you now while I listen to our favorite song we used to play everyday?
where are you now while I clutch my pillow wishing it was you?
are you somewhere out there?

do you remember our last goodbye?
do you remember how your mother said that we'll never see each other again?
do you remember how you looked into my eyes as you were driving away?
do you remember me?

where are you?
are you still with her?
please, can we meet?

Write a poem about someone not giving up the fact that their friend is gone.

I may have put too much of my feels into this

I can hear you well through the gates
I can see you well as we walk past the graveyard
"I wonder when we'll gonna lay here"
you said with your wide smile of perfect teeth

we dance on someone's tombstone not really caring if the lights will fall off of it
we chase one another between the trees and having the laugh of our lives
we read the names on the plaques with funny voices and I wonder if god is angry with us

and I think my heart skipped a beat because I've found your name

I look around
I can't hear you
I can't see you
no, but you were just right-
but you-
no, why
aren't you here?

write a poem about someone trying to confront their lover about their relationship being one-sided.

I like your prompt, it made me think! I drowned in flower world here

hey, uh
so I've thought about us
and I've come to a conclusion
that you stopped giving me roses of your love
irises of your trust
peonies of your compassion
rhododendrons of your integrity
dahlias of your kindness

I've given you a lot of them but you hoard them to fill your leaking soul while mine is almost empty
so I ask you for just one and only
flower of remedy

@tomat brightness_7

Write something about someone getting the help they needed

I just kind poured my heart out

you've finally found
the embrace that makes you warm
ears that make you feel understood
voice that make you fall asleep
you've found someone who will always be there for you, care for you, even if it means that they'll be absent sometimes
but they've accepted you when no one else could
they've helped you grow, they've helped you to find peace you were looking for since 2012
and even though they're not perfect, they're trying their best and that makes them human
and even though you're not perfect, you both are perfect humans together
and as you look back with them, when you were so lost, so angry, so desperate
you smile saying "I was so stupid"
but you both know that it wasn't you who had put you in this place
it was fate which you meet head on

bet
write a poem about an old person seeing the new world and wanting to go back to the way things were in the past.

I had fun with this one, enjoy ^-^

He saw the world grow as He shaped it with His hands
perfect eye-bleeding white buildings trying to touch the sky with perfect windows so big they could let everyone fall
fall down to the ground and break
perfect people walking emotionlessly on a perfect road of past's blood

the dreams of bygone centuries have finally fulfilled with perfect flying cars perfect sound barrier breaking planes perfect fridges that bring you food

everyone's so perfectly lazy and He's tired of it
He curses His perfect present-day life wishing for the flawed erstwhile to come back
because He's lost count of how many days ago He saw a living tree
