Maccabees is pretty decent. Both of them.
Judges is also cool. Because Ehud.
>has never actually read the bible
???!
asldgkjsfjldkjg @The-Althalosian-lsNotLikeOtherSquirrels i saw "maccabees" and thought you were using some australian slang before i actually read the posts above 😂also what is that???
also mood ella i don't really…read the bible??? idk i guess im just a christian not a Christian™
Maccabees? Like the book of the Bible?? Also not to get on your backs or anything, but how are you Christian if you don't know the basics of the Bible?
well I hear readings from it multiple times a week, I just haven’t sat down and read the thing
Wait, which version of the Bible are you referring to? I don't remember the book Maccabees in the version that I read (NIV)
King James I think?
My baby sister is watching Lord Of The Beans with this slightly creepy unblinking expression on her face after begging my mom multiple times to put it on the big tv and I’m honestly so proud
Lol, you should be! She sounds so cute
I love Lord of the Beans
Same.
Also 2 Maccabees 15:38 is such a mood.
I really have never heard of that book- I swear… I seriously want to look it up rn
Honestly read it all. Both Maccabees 1 and 2 are pretty easy to read. And then you can learn about Judas Maccabbeus and Razis AKA the most metal dude of all time.
Old or New Testament?
(How has no one here heard of Maccabees?)
Old.
(Protestants revolutionists took out parts of the Bible they didn't like.)
Yeah, that explains it, I can’t find it in any of the Bibles in my house. I’ll have to look it up online, or try and find some of the older bibles
I literally cannot find what version it's in. There's a bunch of people also asked questions about why it was left out, why other books were left out, etc., etc. And there's a bunch of stuff about Jewish stuff but I have no idea what it means
The results are unclear and my conclusion is: Dom is insane

(I know that, but I didn’t think Maccabees was one of them… then again I know nothing about which book is which)
Yeah it's pretty great. Though I warn you that it gets brutal at times so beware. Like the Maccabean mother and her seven sons (which is actually an Old Testament testament to the resurrection of the dead).

(I have no idea why those ones either.)

Lol always.
What you're talking about with the Jewish stuff is the Apocrypha (term invented by St. Jerome who regretted it the rest of his life). What was called the Apocrypha are some books of the Bible that were considered not legit. But the reasoning had to do with what the Jews thought. Which is dumb because Jews don't believe in Jesus so why does what they think matter here.
But yeah, most Protestants (called that because they rebelled against the Catholic church) don't have the original version of the Bible because folks like Luther and other reformers kinda got edit happy on the Bible.
Seriously, ask me anything. My mom is a genius and a convert so she's taught me a lot about church history.
And there’s your history lesson for the day, folks!
