Strange… Savannah had been told about wedding ceremonies, but it was still quite strange to experience it herself. The priest continued with the vows, and Savannah listened intently for when she needed to speak. Finally, the priest got to the ‘I do’ part of the vows, and Savannah said her part.
"I do." The words sounded foreign to him. It was almost like living the biggest lie. But he knew he would be fine. Even if they didn't fall in love, the least they could be was friends.
“I now pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss the bride.” The priest said. Savannah looked up at Damian for a moment before kissing him, applause sounding loudly in the background. She could hear the shutters of cameras and knew that this would be the front page of the paper the next morning.
Damian turned with his wife and smiled. He waved to the crowd. Next was the reception, food dancing, partying. This was going to be his favorite part, he just knew it. "Should we get going." One other thing he was going to like, is that only friends and family will be allowed in there. So no pretending to be perfect.
Georgiana's heart fluttered in anticipation for the reception. She was a bit nervous that someone might try to talk to her, but her happiness for the princess overruled her fear.
Damian lead Savannah to the building in the back. This building was more modern and less old churchy. As soon as the doors open, you can see how hard people have worked on the room. And the food smelt amazing. "I can't wait to eat." He laughed and took her to the table. "Here." He moved the chair so it would be easier for her to get in.
Savannah sat down and thanked Damian. She wished she’d thought to bring a different dress for dancing, since she knew her wedding dress would be difficult to dance in. Wait… the dress I bought last week! When everyone was distracted with dancing, Savannah silently got up and went to her room to change. She got into her casual dress as quickly as she could and ran back to the reception building. Luckily, it wasn’t too far away and she was only gone about ten minutes.
Caspian and Lillian spoke to family members, discussing the plans for the kingdoms in the following weeks. Lillian took a moment to scan the area. She saw her daughter, now in one of her casual dresses. She smiled, shaking her head and she walked over, and she leaned into Savannah's side.
"Can't dance in your wedding dress, hm?"
“The thing is massive! There’s no way I could dance in something like that.” Savannah grinned, smoothing down her dress. It was still pretty and modest, but it was much easier to move around in. “Who all came, by the way? I can see a couple more distant relatives and some of Damian’s friends, but it’s hard to see everybody.”
Lillian laughed, patting Savannah's shoulder. "Trust me, you aren't the only one. And, nearly every one of our relatives and close friends from the neighboring kingdoms is in attendance. This is a very important day for you and Damian, so anyone who could make it did."
“Wow… we have a lot of relatives, hmm?” Savannah looked around at the crowd, vaguely in awe. Wonder how all of them are related to us, anyway? “I suppose Damian will be living here now, right? Since we’re married and all…” God, that sounds strange to say.
"Hm…well, I suppose so; a king and queen can't exactly rule together from separate kingdoms. That is up for the two of you to decide, though."
Caspian joined them a few moments later, looking over Savannah with a raised brow. "Can't dance in the wedding dress?" He asked, and Lillian giggled and shook her head.
Savannah shook her head as well, smiling a bit. "It's lovely, but impossible to move around in. Nice tux." She looked at her father's outfit. He didn't normally wear things like this, but the simplicity was quite nice.
Caspian smiled and held his head a little higher. "Thank you, dear. It was my father's, you know, and I am very poud to be wearing it on such an occasion." He looked over at Damian, who seemed busy at the moment. "Are you ready to dance with him? It should be just a few more minutes."
"Yes, father. I'll let him talk with his friends for a bit longer. He likes to hang out with them, and I wouldn't want to take that from him." Savannah straightened her tiara, watching Damian and the rest of his little group. She and him would have plenty of alone time now that they were married, so she didn't feel she needed to intrude.
All of Damian's friends came and he was extremely happy about that. The only thing was, his parents and family couldn't make it. With all the storms in his country, there was too much work to do there. "Guess I'll have to visit later." He finished up with his friends and walked over to Savannah. "Are you ready to dance?"
Savannah nodded and took Damian’s hand, smiling. She was glad that no one minded her changing; it was just the reception after all. The pianist began playing some music so everyone could dance. Savannah and Damian were meant to be in the center of the room, so they danced there. The photographers were still there, which was a bit annoying, but Savannah didn’t mind too much.
"For our honeymoon, I was wondering if we could visit my country. Its extremely beautiful. But I mean if you had another place in mind, that's fine." Many people from around the world went there for vacation, so he figured it be a good place. Plus she would get to see where he grew up and meet his family. Damian tried to ignore all the people around and just focus on the two of them.
“That sounds good to me. I’d love to meet your family.” The music slowed down and Savannah and Damian swayed with it. “It’s a shame they couldn’t come… I hope they can clear everything up with the storms soon. It’s lucky that no one was seriously hurt, though.”
Caspian and Lillian smile at the couple, Lillian subtly bouncing in her place. Caspian noted all of the photographers and figured that they had all the pictures they'd need, so he sent a couple of guards over to move away anyone with a camera.
"Awesome. They are going to love you." His family always loved meeting new people. Damian's eyes lit at the thought of seeing his family again. When the song ended he did one last spin and the kissed her forehead. "Thanks." He smiled softly. He was glad he married someone so willing to go on adventures and is so understanding.
The people applauded once the song ended, and another started a few moments later. The king made his way through the parting crowd and toward Savannah and Damian. He bowed slightly and held his hand out to his daughter. "May I?"
Damian handed Savannah off to her father. Stepping to the side, Damian walked over to Queen Lillian and held out a hand. "May I have this dance?" Then he bowed, it would be rude not to.
(Doop de doop, just gonna stand in a corner)
(Boop be boop, I'll join you XD)
(Wonderful, let us stand in a corner together!)
Caspian took Savannah's hand and led her away as more people started to join the floor and dance together. "So, are you enjoying your time?" He asked Savannah.
Lillian smiled at Damian and curtsied, taking his hand. "You may."
"Thank you." He leads her out to the dance floor and swayed to the music, making sure not to stand too close. He didn't want the wrath of the King. "So how are you feeling about all this? Sorry, I should have come earlier so that you weren't handing your daughter to some stranger."
Lillian sighed, stepping in time with Damian. "Believe it or not, and don't tell Savannah I said this, but I honestly didn't want her getting married today." She glanced at her daughter and husband. "I understand the tradition and the urgency of uniting two kingdoms, but she is sixteen. I wasn't much older than her when I had to marry the king and it was the most stressful thing in my life, and…I didn't want that for her. She already has enough to deal with as the only heir to our throne. But it had to be done, so…" She shrugged - a bit unlike a queen, bit oh well. "I'm dealing with it, for lack of a better phrase."
