Dan got out of the Carriage many guards surrounded them. His mother in the front leading them. Dan smiled like he was happy to be here. He smiled like he wasn't slowly dying inside.
Dan got out of the Carriage many guards surrounded them. His mother in the front leading them. Dan smiled like he was happy to be here. He smiled like he wasn't slowly dying inside.
When Chris noticed Dan, he understood. He nodded in his direction, but didn't do or say any more. He was stiff in his family's presence, but he relaxed a little when he saw Dan.
Dan walked just looking forward. He walked to the tent they were going to. He sat down in the chair of his and stayed there. His mother clearly ecstatic to be out and about. All they were really doing here was keeping up appearances and saying hi. The mother smiled at some of the people who waited to say hello.
God, he hates his family just as I do mine… Chris smiled lightly, knowing how he felt. He could tell because his smile was exaggerated, and Chris could spot a phoney smile when he saw one. He stood in line of the people who greeted the prince and his family.
Dan was nice and greeted everyone properly. He shook their hand, made small talk with them and his mother, and that was that. Some of the girls and a few guys who came up where too much, they had major not hard to see crushes.
When Chris came past the prince and his mother, he only shook Dan's hand and nodded, offering a slight smile. "Nice to see you, Prince Daniel." He said it out of modesty, and also because of the fact that he was in public, but Chris acted as if nothing had happened before.
Dan nodded and shook his hand. "Wonderful to meet you, may I ask of your name?" He said. The same lines that he said to everyone else. He didn't care if he already knew his name was Chris he had to ask anyway.
"Christian Williams. Have a nice day." Chris faked a smile, when inside, he'd rather be back on the road, walking with Dan. He couldn't care less if he was the prince or not, but he had to show that he and the prince were but strangers in front of everyone, or his family would question him.
Daniel nodded "I wish you a nice day too." He said. These mentally rehearsed lines that he changed slightly per person, they were just polite.
Will I see you again? Without the fake smile? Without the pretending? Christian sighed once he was far enough from the prince. He doubted it. He doubted it very much. He pretended to have fun the rest of the day, but he really couldn't stop thinking of Dan and him walking in the rain. It had seemed so…natural.
After hours of sitting there greeting people being the perfect prince he could be, the were up walking to the carriage. He hoped to meet Chris again at one point. He was nice, and interesting. He got in the carriage and went to the castle.
Home. A four-lettered word that Chris didn't like. He didn't associate what his foster parents called a home to his home. His home was burned down with the rest of his town. It was evening now, and Chris sat at the table, where his so-called family was to eat dinner.
~The Conversation at the William's Table~
The Mother: "How was your day, Christian?"
Chris: "Fine."
The Mother: "What did you do today?"
Chris: "Stuff."
The Father: "Now, son-"
Chris: "I'm not your son."
The Father: "Christian, could you be more elaborate about your day?"
Chris: "Why would you care?"
The Mother: "Because we care about your well-being."
Chris: "I'm done."
The Mother: "But you've only finished half-"
Chris: "I said I'm done!"
The Father: "Christian! You do not talk to your mother like that!"
Chris: "She isn't my mom!"
Chris goes into his room, slamming the door, and laid in his bed before falling asleep.
When he was back at the castle it was dinner time. He want to the dinning room and sat, it was a large room with many ornate furnishings and decor. He sat there when someone came over and gave him his food, he looked up at her asking his non verbal question. Where are my parents?
"Your father is working, your mother was tired." She replied and walked and stood near the wall.
He nodded and started to eat then stopped. "You may go." He said to her, then he was alone. He sat there in silence eating his food. When he was done he grabbed his plate and brought it into the kitchen, the kitchen staff all stared at him but he ignored their looks. Then he went away to his room.
(Timeskip? Unless you have a plan for Dan to sneak out?)
(time skip.)
(Okay)
Chris awoke to the sound of pots and pans. His mom was making breakfast in the tiny room they called the kitchen. Chris didn't bother to eat, even if he was hungry. He left with his parents staring after him, and Chris wandered aimlessly, not noticing where he was going until he was on the road where he had walked with Dan. Chris kept his head down, even though it was a perfect day outside.
When Dan woke up in the morning one of the staff of the castle brought him his breakfast. He asked them to get a specific guard as they left. He sat there in his room eating and waiting for the guard. Soon they came in. "Come here."
"Yes? Your princelyness."
"Oh shut up. I just need a favor."
"What?"
"Make sure nobody comes in my room today. Tell them I feel ill."
"Alright. I will personally guard your door." The guard smiled.
"Thanks." Dan said then finished his food and went to change as the guard left to guard his door.
He got changed soon enough then left. He got out easily then went for a little walk. He didn't even look like a prince in his attire.
(You said Chris again in the beginning… plus I gtg)
(Sorry again. I am so bad at writing and reading before. Also bye.)
(No, you're fine! You're doing an awesome job!)
Chris sighed and smiled peacefully. This was his escape. Nature. Even if some people questioned him about it, and told him to stop, he couldn't find a better way to calm down, to escape the world by being in nature. Even if the place had guards on patrol, Chris couldn't find anyplace else as nice as the wood that surrounded all sides but the front of the magnificent castle.
Dan walked towards the forest on the east side of the castle. He walked with his head down never meeting the eyes of a guard. He was not looked at or paid attention to.
Chris noticed Dan first and said nothing. There were too many people around, but he did give Dan a slight nod as he passed him. Chris wasn't the person to snitch, especially on a friend.
Dan nodded back slightly. He kept walking towards the forest. As soon as he was in the forest he relaxed a bit and looked around. He walked through the trees looking around. He breathed in the cool morning air.
"So, got any plans?" Chris had followed him. "Or are you deliberately trying to escape your royal life?" He had a soft smile beginning to form on his face.
"Just deliberately escaping royal life." Dan said smiling then leaned up against a tree. "What about you, running away from life too?"
"You bet. My family's too…nice, to put it bluntly. Nature helps most of the time." Chris smiled after biting his lip.
Dan smiled and nodded. "Well maybe they just care too much. At times I feel suffocated by the pressure put on me to succeed." He said and sighed.
"So, complete opposite families, then? Well, maybe not. My family wants me to meet people and actually do productive things that would benefit my life and all, but we barely scrape by money-wise. So are families are relative to each other, I guess." Chris kept his eyes wary of any oncoming guards if they happened to come their way, but there seemed to be none at the moment.
"Yeah, I guess so." Dan replied. "Come on, let's go deeper into the forest. look around. Get away from the road."
"Sure. Lead the way." Chris smiled contently as his mind drifted elsewhere.
