I’m having trouble with where to put my kingdoms and islands should they be in locations or countries? Help please

For starters, a location is a place. Which can be anything really. Asia is a location with several countries within it. The united States is a location and a country. Quebec is a location, and is within a country, Canada. Islands can be Countries, think Japan, or parts of a country, think Puerto Rico, Hawaii, etc. There can be multiple countries within an island. Britain, Scotland, Wales, and the two Irelands are all on an island. Granted, all but one of the irelands are united into a sort of country, but still. You can choos to do whatever.
