"Exactly. I said, people. Not me. I don't find you at all gullible," Kayin said, scowing. "You didn't really prove anything."

Xachia shrugged. "Better safe than sorry." She dropped the rag back into the bucket and looked up at Kai. "Anything else? Because you're not even technically allowed in here at this time but I'm feeling nice."

"You don't seem very nice," Kayin said under her breath. "That's it. That's all I wanted," he said and got up, checking their knives and giving Xachia a glance.

"I heard that." She just rolled her eyes. "Well, the door is that way, thanks for visiting." She flashed a sweet smile before returning back to the kitchen.

"You're obnoxious," Kayin said. "And you wonder why I tracked you down again."

"I more wonder why you really insist on sticking around when you obviously don't like me." Xachia countered as she went back to her work.

"Because I want answers! If I want something, I'm going to get it, regardless of whether or not I like the person I'm taking it from."

"Well it would appear that you've gotten your answers. Now as we say in the theater, exit stage right."

"Yeah, yeah. You can just say you don't like me, instead of beating around the bush." Kayin pushed open the door, feeling vaguely irritated.

"I don't dislike anyone, Kai. You're making assumptions you have no evidence of." Xachia corrected, watching him go.

Kayin just scowled, walking toward the market again to buy supplies.

Xachia went back to her work, trying to put Kai out of her mind. He was just another common criminal, nothing she needed to spend an extensive time thinking about.

Kayin rooted through a crate of mushrooms, trying to pick the best ones out. She then moved to a weapons stall and peered at the bow and arrows with muted interest.

Time moved on as the afternoon turned to evening. Xachia stood behind the bar, ready to open and help like she always did.
