The king of Versalies has faught tooth and nail to raise a kingdom free of prejudice and violence towards all beings in his domain, Fae, nymph, elf, dragon, and sprites alike.
After years of fighting for his kingdom he now has decided to take time for himself as well as his husband and children.
I've been wanting to do a wholesome family rp for a while now mixed with a bit of fantasy intrigue, so I plan on having some conflicts as well as flashbacks that should keep this from slowing down.
Rules:

  • no smut
  • paragraphs only, no one or two liners
  • let me know if you're leaving so I don't continue bumping
  • it doesn't have to be m/m pairing, let me know if you prefer another pairing

@Fenrir

(blinks at grave in surprise that necromance is real, hello there! Yes of course! May I have a writing sample real quick before I throw the template up, though?)

@Tired-but-passionate

(I guess royalty rps is familiar territory for me at this point, so…)

The kingdom of the psychic dragons was more vast than others, mainly because they weren’t often restricted by physical distance like other dragon clans were. It spanned the entirety of a mountain cliff face, which overlooked a valley that was the source of most of the kingdom’s food supply. There was no need for bridges or roads, and there were only small pathways carved into the mountain that covered short distances. Flying was everyone’s main form of transportation, if you didn’t count the various psychic abilities. Dens could simply be carved into the mountain, with only the sheer drop into the abyss outside, and no one would bat an eye. Usually homes were more complicated that that, however. Usually where large cargo or children were concerned, hot air balloons would be used and guided along with harnessed dragons. So hot air balloons and dragons littered the airspace outside the mountain cliff, with the extensions of homes and dens jutting out from the stone and rock.
Kaylum wished he could explore it all.
The palace the largest of the dens, half of it carved into the rock and half built from it. The half carved into the mountain was compose of large and small pockets of space, nary a straight line in sight and most rooms nearly circular. It was where most slept and storage was kept. The half that was built from the mountain stood on a massive platform, the rest extending from it upward and outward. Some rooms didn’t even have walls or ceilings, with only the open air meeting them. This half was used for everything else, and where the throne room was located.
Kaylum was starting to get sick of it.
He stood there, in the throne room, with the afternoon light streaming in from the open ceiling. Only his body guard, Xiomara, kept him company. She stood beside him in dragon form, her dark, feathery wings folded and her posture composed. Xiomara was the closest thing Prince Kaylum had to a friend inside the palace, but her duty as a body guard made her… a little annoying.
“Can you please leave?” He asked, playing with his dreads.
The dragon tilted her head him exasperatedly. “You know I can’t, prince. I know you’ll try to leave if I do.”

@Fenrir

(this is great! Thank you! Here's a template! I'll have my character up most likly by tomorrow morning. Quick questions though. 1) I had a plan where each of us play one of the parents and then a child each, but if you don't want to have two characters it's totally fine just fill out one template. 2) are you okay with m/m pairing for the parents? If not, let me know which pairing you'd like to do, I'm ok with writing most.

Here's a template! (Fill out two if so playing a child)

@Tired-but-passionate

(Omg I loveeee them, I’ll have mine up soon I just feel better knowing who your characters are first in case I need to change anything about mine so they fit together better, if that makes sense)

@Tired-but-passionate

Name - David Sokolov
Age - 34
Sexuality - bisexual
Race - bird shifter, would have Russian heritage if irl
Appearance - 5’8 and fairly slim, but he used to be slimmer when he when he was younger. Slight muscle definition in his arms and legs. Evenly tanned skin and a burn scar on his shin, and small scars on his ankles. Warm hazel eyes and a straight nose, elvish ears. Short, straight, mousy brown hair.
Personality - David presents himself as a kind, easygoing, and fairly charismatic man who cares deeply for his loved ones and even strangers. And for the most part, that’s what he is, but he has also grown to have very strong convictions and beliefs about certain things, and they can’t be shaken very easily. If something needs to be said, he won’t hesitate to say it. It isn’t as though he is tactless, however, and he knows how to use his words. He usually uses them to avoid conflict, as that is something he isn’t very fond of, and tries to be the peacekeeper in most situations. This can make him afraid to face issues in his life and voicing his own opinion or needs, giving him a timid disposition at times. Aside from all this, he is also observant and creative. I would say words of affirmation and physical touch are his main love languages.
Backstory - David was born the prince of the kingdom of bird shifters, Alevid, which would’ve become another enemy of Versalies if David wasn’t betrothed to Killian (his parents found out he was bi when he was a teenager and the only way to keep the peace between kingdoms was a marriage, so….), but David wasn’t really into the whole arranged marriage business, so in the years leading up it, he had a relationship with the daughter of one of the men in his father’s court as a way to secretly rebel against his parents until he actually followed through with the arranged marriage. But then it turned out his lover had commitment issues and that her parents planned to wed her to someone else as well, and she left him. David, rather sullenly at first, became Killian’s royal consort, but grew to understand it was a better alternative than war and then further into loving his husband and helping him in the war effort.
To explain his scars, his family was caught in an assassination attempt when he was a small child, which resulted in almost half of the palace to be burned down. The family survived the flames with some scars, but David’s younger brother died from smoke inhalation.
Likes - swimming, his family, telling stories and making people laugh, problem solving, turkey and chicken meat, flying, birds of prey
Dislikes- being ignored or alone, sitting still, being lied to, seeing his loved ones hurt or upset
Other - David has the ability to transform into a red kite. His ability is developed to the point where he can transform certain body parts, for example letting the wings unfurl from his back while the rest of him stays human.

Name - Dove Sokolov
Age - 6
Sexuality - n/a
Race - bird shifter
Appearance - she has albinism, so she’s got pure white wavy hair that goes down to a little past her shoulders, milky skin, and pale periwinkle eyes. 4’2 and has a slim, pear-shaped body.
Personality - Dove is a quiet child, content with listening and observing more than speaking. Taking after her father David, she already has a solid sense of right and wrong, and is intelligent for her age. However, she has difficulty following verbal instructions and forgets things easily. She’s also quite sensitive and empathetic, and it’s easy to make her cry.
Backstory - One day, towards the end of the war, a baby was left on the palace doorsteps. Upon being found, the royal family found a letter with the baby explaining the situation and insisting that the David was the child’s father. The letter’s sender was anonymous with no return address, so there was nothing to do except adopt the child, named Dove, and raise her as their own. Dove doesn’t know the truth of her adoption, though she acknowledges that she and David share similar features.
Likes - poetry, music, weird, interesting conversations, birds, moths and butterflies, reading, etc
Dislikes- cats and dogs, stress, waking up, small talk, vegetables, etc.
Other - because she has albinism, she has photophobia, nystagmus, and nearsightedness. She has the ability to transform into her namesake, a white dove, and her power is a little difficult to control sometimes

(Here they are!)

@Fenrir

(these two are adorable! I love them both! Let me update mine real quick before I put up a starter cuz I just realized Killian sounds nothing like an elf in his description….woops…starter up soon!)

@Fenrir

(alrighty, he's fixed, more or less XD here's a starter!)
Eevie watched the male in front of her, eyes locked with his as she made a wide circle around him, gripping the blade in her hands. He was a warrior from head to toe, lithe and calculated from years of being at war.
"Sweetheart, you know two out of three means you've lost, correct?" The male said, voice gentle and calm and familiar, a voice she had come to love so dearly.
Eevie smirked and nodded her head, strawberry blonde curls bouncing as she stopped in front of her father, blunted sword raised. "Yes I do, papa. But I think one loss against you r fifteen year old daughter is a better win than any numerical wins you can wrack." She smiled at her father as she leaned into her haunches, ready to lundge.
Killian gasped and cocked his head "is that so? You think you can claim that victory?" He chuckled lightly and slowly turned around. "Alright, I'll give you an advantage." He said over his shoulder.
"and if I win this round, I can braid your hair." She added on excitedly. Eevie had always loved her father's hair, long and white, reaching nearly his waist. When she was younger she play with it making "braids" and twists in to style it.
Killian sighed and nodded "very well, princess. But only if you win." He winked and turned his head away.
Eevie smirk and gripped the blade hard before lundging, meeting her father's own blade with a loud clang before dancing away on nimble feet to avoid his swipes.

@Tired-but-passionate

The two warriors’ spectators sat off to the side, Dove sitting in David’s lap. The young girl’s eyes were wide as she looked on at her sister and father, and David held a small, amused smile on his face as he watched them, running his fingers through Dove’s hair.
“You can do it, Eevie!” David cheered. “I wanna see your papa’s hair braided by dinner.”
When their blades met, Dove gasped and starting rocking in her seat, just as transfixed on this fight as she had been during the first two. Immediately, the two of them started up a chant of “Eevie! Eevie!” which had started up during the last duel as “Papa! Papa!,” bring their fists down each time.

@Fenrir

Killian barked a laugh and shook his head in mock betrayle as he feigned right, narrowly missing an attack from Eevie. She was far more stealthy with her movements than the larger warriors he had trained with. Dispite their years of training and skill, he guarenteed Eevie could take a few on. He stumbled back slight as she slammed her body into his side then immediatly followed up with a would be lethal jab. "You little minx." He teased, a proud grin spreading across his handsome features as he spun out of reach, only to be caught by her blade at his throat.
Killian froze in place, green eyes widened in surprise as he slowly dropped his sword and raised his hands in defeat. His eyes glimmered with amusement as he stared down the blade at his daughter, panting and no doubt tired, but determined. "Perhaps you should make more bets." He murmured, his throat pressing against his throat as he spoke. A killing blow indeed.
Eevie released a breath and slowly lowered her blade, suddenly heavy in her hand. She had come so close. If the blade had been real…she shook herself from the thought and wrapped her arms around her Papa's waist, breathing an 'I'm sorry' as she looked up into his eyes.
Killian shook his head and pressed a kiss to her curled. "Never, ever be sorry for defending yourself, lamb. Ever." He said firmly. "I-i know, but it feels wrong, holding a blade to your throat." She took a deep breath and buried her face into the crook of her father's neck as he picked her up. "You did well today, very, very well." He reassured, walking over to David and Dove, "we're proud of you." He whispered against her hair, settling beside the two. She nodded after a while and lifted her head, smiling softly at her dad's and little sister. "Can we braid your hair now, papa?" She asked, lightly patting his head. Killian sighed softly and nodded "a deal is a deal, sweetheart."

@Tired-but-passionate

The chanting faded as the fighting continued. David decided to cover Dove’s eyes when her sister’s blade met Killian’s throat, and she quickly pushed his hand away, only to see Eevie lowering the blade. David heard her audibly sigh with disappointment and chuckled slightly.
“Did Eevie win?” She asked, looking from her papa and sister to her daddy. David nodded. “Yes she did, and she did wonderfully.” He looked up as the two warriors came over and gave them a loving smile. A wide grin grew on Dove’s face as well. “Yay! Eevie won!” She clapped her hands, then immediately got out of David’s lap to go over and play with her papa’s hair.
David laughed again and tilting his head at Eevie. “What kind of braid did you have in mind?”

@Fenrir

(it's all good! You give me more than enough to work off of!)
Killian smiled softly as he turned to let his daughters do as they will with his hair, taking it out if its current hair tie and letting it fall to it's natural position. He turned to David and gently pressed a kiss to his temple in a long awaited greeting.
"I wanna do a fraud from here," she pointed to Killian's temple where his hairline started, "all the way down." She trained her finger down the side of his head and then waved to the remaining hair. "When it'll be smaller ones all around. Dovey, you wanna do twists?" She asked, kneeling down and ahoinher little sister how to twist the hair so it wouldn't unravel. Killian relaxed as his children toyed with his hair, eyes settling in his husband as he pulled away gently and scanning his features, always looking out for any signs of trouble or worry. "How was your day, sweetheart?" He asked softly, gently lacing their hands together and lightly brushing his thumb along the wedding band on his ring finger
