@PrettyLittlePyro

I really shouldn't make another rp, but here goes.

The ruler of Eurallia doesn't usually last long, whether it's because of an inconvenient assassination, a strange sickness that's struck the people in the middle of their reign, being demoted to a commoner because of a scandal, not getting along with the nobles and councilmen, or what have you. Most rulers don't live long enough to bear an heir, so the kingdom has created a holiday to find the best ruler possible.

The Monarch Trials. A series of tests for young people with potentials for ruling. The test differs every time, from tests of physical strength to strategy to intelligence to, one year, physical prowess. This is the year for the newest Monarch Trial, and boy, is it bloody.

A and B are participants in the Trials. Maybe it was intentional, maybe not. All they know is that they don't think they'll survive. They team up together for some reason, trying to survive. All while knowing that, at the end, one of them will die by the other's hand.

So yeah. Our characters will team up to compete in the Trials, and then maybe romance, maybe just friendship.

Rules:

  • Please, for the love of God, be legible. I want to understand what you're trying to write, and if you don't use proper grammar or spelling or punctuation, I won't know how to respond, and so I might just delete this rp and start again with someone else.
  • Swearing, blood, gore, and all that fun stuff will definitely be included, so if you have any triggers, let me know before we start.
  • If you want romance, I'm okay with anything NSFW, but I do want it to be taken to the dms. I'm good with bxb, bxg, gxg, and any others. It's up to you!
  • Ask to join. If I haven't rped with you before, or seen your writing, then I will ask for a sample.
  • Any slurring and I will kick you out faster than you can type I'm an asshole.
  • Jerk characters are accepted and warmly welcomed. Jerk users are not.
  • Please write at least two paragraphs of a response.
  • Have fun! If you get bored, I'm okay if you drop out. No hard feelings. :)

(Sick! I have work today but I’ll get my guy up as soon as I can. Quick question, when you say abilities, is that like… magic or just general fighting abilities and so on?)

@ElderGod-Carrots

(Here's my guy. If I have misunderstood anything or there's something you are unhappy with then let me know and I will change it asap!)

Name: Emrys Calgohan
Age: 22? can raise or lower
Gender: male
Sexuality: queer, but no label

Species: half-human, half earth spirit
Abilities: Basic control of the earth/earth manipulation, faster than the average person, heightened hearing
Appearance: Emrys is around 5'11, though more towards the smaller end of that measurement. He is very lithe, though has a fair amount of muscle mass. Being thin, he is very quick, small, able to fit into places where he shouldn't be, and it makes him easy to hide. He has pale skin with olive/green undertones, courtesy of that earth spirit in him. He is very light weight wise. Boney with lots of visible veins. He has sharp, defined features, bright green eyes that almost seem to glow, thin lips, a scattering of light freckles. His overall appearance is very innocent-looking, and as much as it used to both Emrys, he has found he can use that to his advantage now. He has light brown hair, slightly curly, falls gently across his face and trickles his neck. He tends to wear pretty light clothing, mostly in earth tones and colours. Has a scattering of daggers hidden across his body most of the time. He has a left ear piercing with a simple, silver hoop. Long lashes, and an eyebrow slit over his left brow. Has a tattoo on both his shoulders of multiple different flowers, animals, and earth-related things, he also has a large scar down his back from when he got into a fight when he was younger and nearly died.

Personality: Emrys' personality is… interesting. He switches often from being fairly outgoing to quite introverted. Knows how to manipulate people to get his own way, even if he doesn't necessarily like doing so all that much. Outgoing to those that he likes, he doesn't hide his true self. For a guy that comes across as quite innocent, he is quite the opposite. Crude humour, vicious, dangerous when he decides he wants to be. When he has his mindset on something nothing will stop him from going out and getting it, no matter the cost or expense of himself. Fiercely loyal to those he loves and likes would lay down his life for you. Not afraid to speak his mind or stand up for what he believes is right. Even though he knows how to manipulate others, he often falls for his own tricks if it's from the right person. Sentimental, tries to hide his emotions but isn't very good at that and thus tends to wear his heart on his sleeve when not focused on trying to keep his true feelings a secret. Has a pretty bad temper on him, too, if provoked enough.
Strengths: Stealth, speed, he is very good at missions or jobs that require maximum sneakiness due to how light and skinny he is. Manipulation of other people, and the earth
Weaknesses: Not the best with hand to hand combat. He is good at avoiding attacks, not so good at dishing them out. Swords are a huge problem for him, as well as heavy lifting. Emrys is more of an attack from the distance/with magic type of person (although too much magic = him fainting and feeling pretty unwell).

Background: Emrys was born to a human dad and an earth spirit mother. His dad was a lord and met his mum when he first moved to his lands a few years before he was born. He had no siblings as before his parents could have another child, his mum was killed hunted for her power and guardianship over the lands surrounding his dad's place. He learnt how to use his powers from his grandad, how introduced him not only to his skills but also to the world of spirits. As he was a half-spirit, his powers and connection to the earth weren't as strong as his grandads, but he compensated with the fact that he got really fast and really stealthy. Was a trouble maker when he was in his teenage years but grew out of that once his grandad died. His dad and he weren't the closest, and he grew more distant as the years went on. Soon they lost contact with each other, but from what Emrys knows, his dad is still alive (he hopes). As much as they weren't close, he does love him.

Other: He is a big fan of water and flowers. Anything nature is good but those two are top tier for him. Hasn't been in love before, doesn't think he ever will be, as much as he wishes he was. Loves books and reading, a big lover of head scratches (seriously, he's probably fall for you then and there if you gave him a head massage).

@PrettyLittlePyro

Name: Harper Aumorian
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Pansexual

Species: Enhanced human
Abilities: Being enhanced, Harper has several powers that come from his bloodline, that most humans couldn't even dream of. It means that he can run faster, longer, is stronger, and his senses are more powerful than the average human. He also has what seems to be the ability to manipulate light into fire, healing, protection, and stuff like that. Slightly based off of the cleric class from dnd, if you know what that is.
Appearance: As a noble, Harper is supposed to be handsome. Perfectly tanned skin, straight teeth, a practiced smile that can make anyone weak at the knees. His hair is always messy in a neat way, a dark blonde with natural lighter streaks and highlights. It's long enough to make him not look military, and wavy, so that it looks shorter than it really is. It's unevenly cut, and he'll usually keep it up over his neck. He has sharp, cold blue eyes that always show just how much he doesn't want to be there, and his profile, while handsome, always reminds someone of a first-class douchebag. Not many scars, because he's a priss, but he has callouses on his hands from sword training, and muscle. He's about 6'0'', and lean. He'll usually wear neutral colors, white, black, and gray, and they're usually tight enough to not be in the way with all of his climbing and escaping that he does.

Personality: Harper is my stubborn boi. He’s usually very calm and in control, not easily riled up, but there are times when he just annoys. Everyone. He can be incredibly stubborn and pig-headed, even if his decision is going to cost something. If his mind is set on something, there is no turning back. Also very gentle and kind, but deadly if he needs to be. He hates people, and he won't talk to them or interact with them unless he absolutely has to. He's really smug at times, and will act as if he's the best as often as he possibly can. Because he is the best. Super arrogant, not particularly loyal, slightly narcissistic, and he acts as if the world revolves around him. He also likes to crack morbid jokes at the worst possible time, and is a huge pessimist. He has a habit of being sarcastic while holding a completely serious face, which can be very disconcerting to those around him.
Strengths: Swordfighting, pessimism, making people angry, blending into the background, scaring people
Weaknesses: Being happy, recognizing his own emotions, happiness

Background: Harper is the son of a noblewoman who was famous for sleeping around. It wasn't really known who his father really was, but instead of being ashamed of it, he used his "bastard" reputation to his advantage, avoiding people as much as possible. There were rumors that his father was the last king, but it hasn't been confirmed by anyone, since he's never around anyway. He grew up in a fairly normal home, with a mother who actually did love him, even though she was distant, and a stepfather who taught Harper everything he knew before he passed away when Harper was 19. He joined the Monarch Trials in his stepfather's memory.

Other: He is the son of the last king, but no one knows that, except for his mother, who doesn't really care.

@PrettyLittlePyro

(Agh, sorry, I thought I had responded to this!)

"Name and age," came the bland question from the clerk, who didn't even look up to see who he was talking to.

Not that Harper blamed him. If he had to deal with thousands of young people for a week, getting their information over and over again, with little break in between, he would be this apathetic as well.

"Harper Aumorian, 23," he said in a low, cool voice, fingers dancing around the hilt of the dagger strapped to his waist, the only weapon of his in sight.

The clerk wrote something down on a slip of paper, his signet ring flashing in the bright, hot sun. He put a drop of hot wax onto the paper, pressed his ring into it, and then handed it to Harper. "Here is your pass, sir. This is what will prove your identity unless you pass the Pre-Trials and get an official signet of a Trial-taker. If you lose it, you're eliminated."

Harper bit back a grin. This slip could easily be stolen, lost, or destroyed. Taking care of it was a test in and of itself, and one that he was glad he could do. He carefully folded the paper in half, put it in the pouch at his waist, and moved on, following the long line of people to a solders' barracks. He was assigned a cot, in a room with dozens of other test takers, and given a uniform.

After, he and the other people there were given a tour, before ending at a mess hall, which was really just an outdoor area with a large marble roof and no walls.

This is just like school, he thought grimly, spinning his spoon between his fingers, sitting as far from everyone else as he could. Alliances were already being formed, enemies created. And he just wanted to be alone, so that his ears would stop hurting so much from the noise.

@ElderGod-Carrots

(All good, ive been fairly inactive anyway)

Emrys hadn't at all been excited about the trials. The idea that he was either going to rule a kingdom or, more likely, die wasn't a thought that brought any joy, not even the slim chance he made it through the trials. The city was another world to the young magic-user, and as soon as he got used to it, was thrust into a completely different scenario of protocol, uniforms and glares.

Maybe it would have been easier if he was fully human, or fully spirit, but as it turned out, being a half-breed ended with Emrys only receiving half the perks from either side of his heritage.

The uniform felt too tight and restricting. Whatever it was made of had him grimacing at the texture as he moved through the mess hall. His slip was safely tucked away in one of the pockets, and the gentle scratch of the paper against the fabric was a surprisingly nice reminder that he still had the important note.

It seemed to Emrys that the majority of those who were located in the hall had alliances formed. The groups that sat together whispered to each other as to not reveal their plans. Either that, or they were staring so intently at one another with a look that screamed 'you're first.'

Everything felt too foreign as he moved to a table with another guy, the only other male there and sat down a little way away from him. As much as Emrys could have joined another table, he couldn't feel at all bothered in the present. Maybe he and this other guy would get along, but Emrys doubted it form the way it seemed everything going on was a bother to him.

@PrettyLittlePyro

When someone sat down beside him, Harper had half a mind to just stand up and walk away. He wasn't going to burst out yelling and get annoyed, like he knew a lot of the other contestants would do. He didn't want a scene. And so he kept silent, continuing to eat his stew, before glancing up at the newcomer at his table.

The man was lithe and delicate-looking, like the smallest amount of pressure would break him. Judging by the tint to his skin and the brightness of his eyes, the blonde-haired man assumed he had some sort of magical lineage in him. What it was, though, he didn't know, nor did he care. Dismissing the man almost instantly, he returned to his food, looking up every once in a while to study the competition, taking note of who seemed like the most dangerous.

There was a girl who was small with a knife-edged posture and a dangerous smile. There was a large man who appeared to be stupid, with his enormous brawn and tattoos and shaved skull enhancing that idea even more. His eyes sparked with intelligence, though, and cruelty. There was a fire spirit with an innocent appearance, who would every so often burst into flames, just to scare those around them. These were just some of the competition that Harper noticed, and he made sure to keep an eye out for them, in case they tried something to get rid of the challengers early. It wasn't illegal, after all.

@ElderGod-Carrots
