It wasn’t long before McKay spotted Anna and got out of his car before he walked up to her. In his hand, as he’d promised, was a cup of coming, still hot and steaming.

“My lady.” He smiled at her, offering his arm. “Are you ready?”

Anna spotted him too and approached him with a grin. She laughed seeing the coffee. "I won't be able to sleep tonight with all this caffeine," she teased, but she took the cup from him anyway and smiled shyly as she slipped her arm through his. "Yes," she replied. "I'm ready."

He walked her over to his vehicle and, like any gentleman would, held the car door open for her. Once she got inside, he went around to the other side of the vehicle and climbed into the driver’s seat.

“How was work today?” He started up the vehicle. “Good? Stressful?”

Anna blushed lightly and ducked into his car. It was very expensive, and she kept a close hold on her coffee, not wanting to ruin the interior by spilling the drink. She looked over at him as he spoke to her, asking about her day. "Both," she answered. "Most days are. The interview went… oddly. I have a lot more work ahead of me now. But I don't want to think of that right now."

He nodded and put his car into reverse, backing out of the parking spot. “Well then, we’ll talk about something else.” He smiled faintly. “What’s your favorite place in this town? The coffee shop? The theater?”

Anna smiled back, relieved by the change of topic. Whenever she was with Harry, it seemed that all they talked about was work. But she quickly banished the thought of Harry from her mind. She didn't want to be thinking of him, not when she was on a first date. Especially not when she was on a first date.

"The park, actually," she answered. "I love to sit on the benches in the early afternoon and feel sunlight after being in my office all morning."

@Emmrii

“Well then, if the park is your favorite place, that’s where we’ll go,” he replied. “You know, if I knew we were going to the park, I would’ve packed a picnic, but I suppose Chinese takeout will work. How does that sound?”

Anna was beaming. She was hardly ever shown this much attention before, and it was… nice, actually. She appreciated someone who cared to as about her as much as she cared to ask about them. "That sounds lovely," she agreed. "But what about you? How was your day?"
