Based on a few writing prompts I stumbled across:

  1. "You live in a city where crime runs rampant. One day, you save a young boy's life, not knowing that he is a crime lord's son, and you have just joined the no-harm list."

Instead of simply joining the no-harm list unawares, however, Person A ends up accidentally being hired by Person B's crime lord parent because, "Damn, that's a high salary. And those benefits—I'm in!!"

  1. "You seem to be under the false impression that I will never get annoyed with you because you're my boss or whatever, but I am this close to tackling your scrawny ass and chaining you to a wall."
  2. "When you said you'd give me an earpiece to communicate with me, I thought it was for actual, you know, serious matters, but all you've been doing for the entire meeting is just telling me really bad jokes and puns throughout the whole thing and I don't know how much more I can take before I burst out laughing."

Those last couple were just to get a general vibe. In short, bodyguard x ward because I'm a sucker for that trope! I'd prefer it if this were a boy x boy romance, but the rest of the details we can hash out, like whether you want this to be fantasy, dystopian, modern world, etc..

Aside from that, rules are andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer)'s rules! This roleplay might have graphic depictions of violence, so if that's not something you're keen on just let me know and I'll change that. Same for flirty, sexual implications, but nothing graphic in that regard. Overall I'd give this a tentative rating of 16+!

@Vitae_

(Hello there! I take it you're interested in joining? And if so, which role would you rather play? Bodyguard or the crime lord's son?)

@Vitae_

(Sounds good to me! I had a character idea for both, so this works. I'll post a template soon and we can go from there!)

Originally I considered making this a fantasy roleplay, where the son was some kind of rare species that was super sought after in the crime world, but I'll leave it up to you whether you want to pursue that route or play as regular humans! Just let me know and I'll adjust my character accordingly. (Sorry to make you choose again lmao, I promise you I'm more than happy with either!)

Name: Carlos Ortiz
Age: 19
Gender: Male he/him
Appearance: 5ft10 muscular build with a lot of scars all over his body.

Personality: Carlos seems mean or even blunt most of the time, but as you get to know him, he’s a big softie. All you need to do is get on his good side. However, if you get on his bad side…say goodbye to one of your limbs.
Backstory: you’ll learn soon~ grins
Theme Song: Angel with a shotgun

@Vitae_

Name: Mikhail Novikov (Mick)
Age: 22
Gender: Male, he/him
Species: Unknown (mwahahaa)
Appearance: Disarmingly tall (6'3") and slim with plenty of defined muscles, a slim waist, and slender shoulders. Has more of a dancer's build than your traditional bodyguard, but don't let that deceive you; Mikhail can pack a mean punch. He's white in both ethnic and literal terms, with a sharp jawline, narrow amber eyes, and thick eyelashes. His nose follows a soft slope, round like a button, and his lips are pretty pink and wider than your average person's. He has dimples and a black steel lip piercing to go with the black steel lobe and cartilage piercings on his ears. His hair is shaggy and grey with brownish-black roots and streaks.
Personality: Mikhail projects an aura of cold intimidation and a vibe of, 'You don't want to mess with me,' so loudly that one might believe it's the truth—until they spend more than five minutes with him and realize he's the human equivalent of a socially awkward, bumbling puppy. He has a tendency to take things very literally, especially as English is his second language and some idioms escape him. As someone who spends a lot of time in his thoughts, Mikhail is acutely observant and good at reading people. His problem lies in articulating those observations in a way that doesn't make him look like a creep. He has a very kind heart and a strong sense for helping others, but his morals might be a little skewed.
Backstory: Grew up in Russia and moved to a big city in the Americas where the crime rate is rather high. It was what he could afford, having moved by himself, and he resolved to work insane hours at a nightclub in order to save money fast. He has no connection to his relatives and his parents passed away when he was young.
Theme Song: on the street (with J. Cole) by j-hope

(Ooh, this'll be fun for sure. I love Carlos at first glance! Unfortunately, I gotta go to work now, but I'll try to have a starter posted by tonight or tomorrow morning!!)

Being a runner at the popular nightclub known as Astros wasn’t exactly a job that Mikhail would describe as “pleasant.”

There were far too many crowds of loud, drunk, and self-entitled people for that.

If there was one part of the job that was pleasant, however, it would be the inky blue and indigo stained glass ceiling high above all the crowds and noise. Integrated into the sky were lights that glowed in the pattern of real constellations. He’d heard it was crafted to be an exact replica of the very stars outside, complete with about a thousand enchanted bronze gears that rotated the piece according to the cycle of the Earth’s rotation.

Mikhail didn’t really understand all the intricacies of the artwork the club was named for, but he could appreciate the brief mental reprieve that looking up provided while dodging yet another plastered couple attempting to dance off of the designated dance floor.

The runner wrinkled his nose in annoyance and turned his attention back to the bar. More specifically, the analog clock hanging between two shelves stocked full of a wide variety of alcohol.

Five minutes,’ he consoled himself, sucking in a deep breath and trying for his best customer service smile. It fell a little short, turning into more of a grimace than a smile, but Mikhail pushed onward.

He delivered a final few meals to those in the seated sections, unsurprised but nevertheless a little dispirited when no one offered him a tip. Particularly table twenty-three, which he’d had to return to three separate times because the customer insisted her soup wasn’t hot enough.

Mikhail had no idea why she’d come to a nightclub to eat soup, but to each their own or whatever.

With thirty seconds left in his shift, Mikhail waded through the crowd with the grace of a dancer to the painted door marked “Employees Only”. He slipped through and stared his manager right in the eye as if to say, ‘Just try and stop me,’ as he smoothly entered his personal number to punch out.

His manager laughed loudly and raised his glass of water in a salute. “Thanks for the help, Mick. Be safe getting home.”

And then Mikhail was free, shrugging off the ridiculous vest he had to wear and stuffing it in his bag. He shook out an oversized, muted green hoodie and pulled it on, finishing the look with a gray beanie and replacing the uncomfortable dress shoes with a pair of green vans.

His black slacks, form-fitting down to his ankles, were innocuous enough that he rarely bothered with bringing replacement clothes. They weren’t outright uncomfortable like everything else, so they could wait.

As he stepped through the back exit of the club, he checked the time again on his phone. He’d been working so late into the night recently that it felt alien to have escaped at only 11 PM. He resolved to make the most of it by going to bed earlier, but deep down, he knew he’d probably end up spending at least three hours doom-scrolling on his phone until he passed out.

Mikhail quickly tapped out a request for an Uber, then spent the first few minutes of his wait fumbling with his earbuds, trying in vain to unravel the cords. Just as he succeeded and lifted the first earbud to his ear, a distant noise made him pause.

It was a voice, he was certain, raised in a shout that he couldn’t decipher the tone behind. That alone wasn’t really a cause for alarm, seeing as he heard shouting practically every night he waited outside the club for a ride. Spending hours in a place as noisy as Astros tended to temporarily deafen its patrons, not even taking into account the alcohol content in the place.

For some reason, though, Mikhail felt hesitant. He stayed frozen in place, earbud halfway to his ear, his other hand clasped around his phone in his hoodie pocket. His head cocked ever so slightly to the right, listening intently for a follow-up noise.

Several long seconds passed and there was nothing, so Mikhail decided to ignore it. The moment he pulled out his phone to select a song, though, he heard it again.

This time he was certain. That was definitely not a happy shout.

It was coming from somewhere off to his left, and driven by a morbid kind of curiosity, he approached the alley of the nightclub. He peered around the corner, not quite sure what to expect.

@Eli-the-transboi group

Carlos was just minding his own business, tryna get a drink. (Even though he wasn’t allowed to yet…but no one was around to tell his father that…) He walked through an alley to the Astros club. He always loved the beautiful replica of the night sky in their roof. It was almost hypnotizing.

Carlos walked with his hands in his pockets. He wore a more comfortable version of dress pants, a black turtleneck that hugged his figure and nice dress shoes with a decent amount of jewelry. Carlos was in his own little world until he was cut off by someone pinning him to a wall and pressing a knife to his neck. Carlos yelped and pulled out his own pocket knife. His father’s voice went through his mind, “Defend yourself if need be. Fight for your life and report back to me on who the attacker is and looks like.”

Carlos manages to cut the guys cheek, but that was about it before he was slammed against the wall. He cried out in pain, his vision going blurry. That was gonna leave a mark…if he survived this…

Carlos fought the best he could, only to be slammed into the brick wall once more. Soon, however, his attacker heard someone approaching and paused. Listening…

@Vitae_

Mikhail saw the scuffle and immediately acted. For someone so tall he practically melted into the shadows as he advanced, eyes focused on the attacker with an intensity that would've frightened a weaker man. The moment the man froze, tilting his head in a similar manner to Mikhail, the runner pounced.

The attacker whirled around with a snarl, knife raised while the other arm remained firmly planted on the other kid's neck.

Mikhail was prepared, slinging his backpack around to catch the knife and throw the man's balance off. He tossed the bag to the side, still embedded with the weapon, and caught hold of the attacker's wrist as he twisted the man's body around and forced him to the ground face-first. Within seconds the man's wrists were held within one of Mihail's hands, pressed against the small of his back along with one of the runner's knees.

"Don't move," he warned in a low tone, shifting his grip on the knife man's arms enough that he grunted in pain.

With the threat contained for the moment, Mikhail's amber eyes flicked toward the man's victim. They practically glowed in the dim lighting, giving him an even more intimidating appearance. Predator-like.

He studied the boy, scanning him for obvious injuries before speaking. "Are you alright?" His voice was gruff, his accent thicker than normal due to the adrenaline of a fight.

@Eli-the-transboi group

Carlos gasped as he was suddenly dropped to the ground with a loud thud. His vision went dark for a moment, making him stumble back. He managed to catch himself on the wall and he slowly slid himself down to sit. When his vision came back, his attacker was being restrained by another man. Tall with almost glowing eyes. For the first time in what seemed like years, Carlos was fully intimidated by someone.

He stares at the man as his gaze landed on Carlos. Then the man spoke with a heavy accent, “Are you alright?”

The younger boy takes a moment, then blinks and nods slowly. This action made him even more dizzy than he already was. He groans softly and closes his eyes, reaching to the back of his head. Blood. Uh oh… He hisses slightly and leans back fully, dropping his hand to his lap. He felt sick now…very sick. Of course that was probably expected from being slammed into a brick wall several times, but it was still worrying. His father would definitely not be happy about this. Blood would definitely be shed.

After a while, the boy murmurs, “Thank you…” before he passes out completely.

@Vitae_

Mikhail eyed the boy's movement worriedly, eyes catching on the red stain on his hand. "Hey, don't pass out out me now," he tried, a little desperate as he began to list to the side. Mikhail wasn't even sure he could hear him, unfocused as his eyes were. He was certain the boy was out cold, now.

The runner tensed as a throaty chuckle reached his ears. The vibration of the man's laugh seemed to travel through Mikhail's very bones, and he tightened his grip warily as the man spoke.

"You have no idea what you're protecting, do you?" the man spat. "That there is the son of a man who has made many lives a living hell." He coughed, the increasing pressure of Mikhail's knee on his back restricting his airflow.

Mikhail glanced again at the boy, considering the words. He felt only concern for his poor condition, and countered, "And right now, I'm the man who can make your life a living hell. You attacked someone for selfish reasons, so you should be prepared to face the consequences." He said it matter-of-factly, scanning the alleyway for a solution that would allow him to deal with the attacker and move to help the boy.

At that moment, he heard someone in the distance call his name. He perked up, craning his head to see one of the security guards from the entrance of the club peering into the alley.

"Derek!" Mikhail called, relief washing over him as his coworker rushed over to see what was happening. Before the guard could ask any questions, Mikhail said, "Cuff this guy, would you? I gotta help the kid." He inclined his head towards Carlos, pointing him out to Derek who seemed to piece together the basics of the story because his eyes widened in understanding. He nodded, and Mikhail stepped away from the thug.

The thug who, predictably, tried to get his feet under him and run. Derek was quicker.

As the attacker cursed and squirmed in a futile effort to get away, Mikhail rushed to the boy's side and tapped his cheek, looking for a response. He gnashed his teeth when he didn't get one, shooting a furious look at the thug

"Mick," Derek called, hardly breaking a sweat from where he was holding the thug against the opposing wall. "I'm going to need you to explain what happened to the cops."

Mikhail hesitated but nodded in agreeance. "That's probably for the better. I think this one needs medical attention." He paused, studying the wound on the boy's head. He didn't think it'd be wise to move him until he knew what they were dealing with. "Would you kick my bag over here?"

Derek nodded, doing as Mikhail asked. "I'm going to take this guy to the office, where we can watch him until police get here. Keep an eye on the kid." With that Derek was on the move, shoving the thug along towards the back entrance to Astros.

Mick reached for his bag, leaving the knife exactly where it was, and retrieved his fresh backup pair of socks from the main pocket. They weren't much, but they were thick and should help staunch the flow of blood until medics arrived.

He also slipped the water bottle out of the side pocket, uncapping the bottle and pouring some into his cupped hand. He dipped the tips of his fingers from his other hand into it and flicked it at the boy's face, hoping it might wake him up.

(This should be interesting lol. I doubt Carlos will want the cops involved!)
