I like archery, from the few times I've gotten the chance to do it.

It's a pretty great skill to have. Have you shot recurve or compound? (Recurve doesn't have those wheels on it and sort of twangs when you shoot, and compound has wheels and looks more modern.) ~Jak

(Me! That's cool that someone else on here does archery! [I don't do competitive, I just do it for fun.)

I do competitive at my school, and last year we made it to State! XD ~Jak

(Lucky! My school doesn't have any sports like that. It's all VOLLEYBALL! and BASKETBALL! and FOOTBALL! ugh.)

Recurve, I believe.

Ugh. My school has basketball, mountain biking, and cross country as well, but I think that archery is by far the coolest.

I love archery! I haven't gotten one yet as my mum reckons they are a boys thing. Which doesn't make sense because nearly all my older sisters own one. And Katniss and Susan Pevensie?
I've tried using my sisters but their strings are too tight and I hurt my arm (like strained it or something) and so I don't use it. My younger brother and I stole my our older brother's bow the other day though and had some fun with it, which was cool.

Lol. My mom's kinda the same way with the sexist "Boy's things" and "girl's things". It really is annoying. But if you start off with less poundage on the string, you keep increasing it until you get to the point where you are able to pull your sisters' bow strings without having your arms hurt.

That sounds pretty cool. And Susan rocks.
Maybe you need to start with a lighter draw weight; you have to work up to it, and in tournaments, you're only allowed to shoot about 20 lb. bows. ~Jak

Bows seriously shouldn't be so stereotyped as a guys' thing! My coach's daughter is getting another bow and it's going to be pink and sparkly, so the whole thing is ridiculous.

Well, my brother's one is really good, so maybe I'll ask can I use it from time to time. I think one of my sisters has one around 20 which I like, but she's the one who does archery the most, so she is usually using.
You see, my other sister brought a bow string too long, so she just tied it in a knot, but now it is way too tight. If she had the same string, she had originally had, it would be perfect.

I think my Mum just used the whole boy's thing, because there are like five recurves and a compound already around. But they belong to my siblings, not me. My brother owns like three bows, by the way.

Huh. If you celebrate Christmas, maybe you could ask for one for Christmas. ~Jak

@shattered_heart

I dunno, I don't like asking my Mum for things and besides, she'd done so much for my birthday already, even though it isn't even my birthday yet. She brought me a flight to go see my best friend and she brought my tickets for a musical play on the Christmas Carol, because I couldn't afford it but wanted to go. And I think my brother accidentally let out, there's some other surprise as well.
