Alright, so this is going to be based off a story I've been writing for a while now.
this is the first paragraph.
Thirteen is a very special age. It's when kids stop being a “preteen” and become a “teenager,” it's The age were you can watch pg-13 rated movies all by yourself, it's the age where you don't have to lie when making a social media account, and most importantly it's the year that your body starts to change and hormones kick in. But in the year 3009 13 years olds don't worry about things like that, well except for the body changing and hormones those were still a problem. The year that they turned 13 was important for a whole new reason. It was the year that they found out what they were going to do for the rest of their lives."
(it's not very good but like it gives a little bit of a feel of what the world is like)
Most of the normal citizens in this future are ordinary. they want to have ordinary jobs. like being a doctor, business person, or official. Of course, there are a few people who go against the norm these people want to be artists, writers, or musicians. Things that these children only ever see in their history books.
The week before a child turns 13 they must take a test. This test will decide what they shall do as a job. most get exactly what they wanted. but the creative kids well they are in for a treat. you see they are deemed "useless" They must become "waits" (a nicer way of saying slaves)
of course, the government found out that openly taking these kids into servitude wouldn't work out, so they lore them into the false sense of security. they say that they are "chosen" Chosen means that they'll get a higher education. only the bests of the bests become chosen. this is all a lie.
on the night of the child's thirteenth birthday, everyone comes over. they have a celebration and wait for the results to come in. when they do it appears on the tv. announcing the child's fate to the whole family.
the children that are chosen are picked up the next morning. they say goodbye to there family knowing they'll never see them again. most are happy knowing that at this new school they will have the best education in anything they want. except they are told in the car that they will become a wait. they then are knocked out and wake up in a dorm surrounded by others just like them.

Things about this future

• Most citizens have waits
• citizens usually only wear white
• waits are really just a gender-neutral and short version of Waiters/waitresses (aka I got tired of constantly saying Waiter/waitresses)
• swearing is allowed but citizens don't usually swear. swear words were deemed pointless and sort of an act to break the peace.
• this is very tech-filled. citizens have apple watch like things. it has there id's on it and they can message.
• Waits don't have these watches. instead, they have a similar thing but its bigger and built into there arm. they get messages and it has their IDs
• there is a rebellion but its very small at the moment. a few officials in the 'school' are apart of it.
• lesbian/gay/bi people are also seen as 'unusual' and 'useless' the main thing against them is that they can't reproduce and the help populate the civilization. so kids who show signs of liking the same gender become waits.
• all illnesses were cured and getting sick is very rare.

things at the 'school'

• they take classes on how to cook, clean, take care of children, etc
• a few waits were raised there. Children that are orphaned and have no other family are sent there. most of them as babies. the class where they learn to take care of kids are just them taking care of the orphans.
• boys and girls have separate dorms. also, a boys dorm and a girl dorm never have free time at the same time. they say this is to stop relationships, but seeing as a good amount of them like the same gender that doesn't seem like the actual reason. they assume that the real reason is the limit the contact between dorms. that way its harder to do acts of rebellion
• waits uniform is a grey shirt and grey shorts

Personality: she's used to be very happy and naive. She didn't let anyone put her down. Now she's a lot less optimistic. She still doesn't let people put her down but now when instead if just ignoring them she stands up and fights back.
Backstory: has a twin brother who was better than her in every way. He was smart and popular. Their parents loved him. The loved her too. Just not to the same extent. They thought that her art would get her nowhere in life. She was bullied for being different. She's been at the school for A little more than a year.

Other: She insists that there is someone named Night with her at all times but there is never anything there. She insists she's there and she looks like a shadow. When asked what she does most of the time she usually replies with talking with Night. She sometimes will go into laughing fits were she will have to be restrained. Sometimes if the laughing fits are bad she can turn slightly violent.

When are we going to start?

I think so because we need all the people we need.
